Dust or dead pixel?

Just took a few shots with my new refurbrished Olympus EP-2 and noticed that they all had a small white dot in the same place on the photo. Not sure if this is just dust or something wrong with the sensor or what. I took off the lens and blew it off and put back on. Turned the camera on and off (think it has a sensor cleaner) and I'm still seeing it. Can sensor have a dead pixel. Would that show up as white or black?

Suggestions?

You should close to f22, then shoot the sky (perfectly blue)

When you enlarge the picture :

- if it's a rectangular zone, it's a pixel (very very small).
- if it's a dust, you will perfectly see it (and bigger than a pixel!)

Is there a glass in front of the sensor, in order to protect it? (Panasonic G series has one)

I'm not sure about the Olympus cameras, but the Panasonics have a menu feature to remap the sensor, should you have dead pixels. You might want to try that first.

Hot or dead pixels are pretty normal. On my e-pl2 there's a pixel mapping feature in the menu.

And what about a direct viewing?
Can you see something when you look at the sensor? (playing with light reflections to expose each parts of the sensor).
You should see dust if there are…

It seems to be very tiny…
Maybe not a dead pixel, because there's a somber area around the white zone (?) - It's not "well defined"
Metalic dust?

If it was dust it would be black. Also if it was dust, it would be sharper when you close the lens.

The pixel mapping seems to have fixed it. Ran it twice and it seems to be OK. Thanks for the suggestions.
