Hi all,
I simply love my series 1 Noctilux and would like to complement it with characterfull leica glass so have been "dating" the 35 lux pre-asph.

My questions are:
- Would you trade your 1 yr old 35 Summicron ASPH for the 35 Summilux pre-asph?
- In your opinion (with samples perhaps), what other lenses are similarly characterfull and special?

thanks all...

21/3.4 SA, 35/1.4 Summilux-M and 50/1.0 Noctilux make a nice Kit for those who don't need the latest and sharpest. 🙂

With dating do you mean you have borrowed a lux and are using it or is it lust from a distance ? If you are using it and like it then go for the swap, if not I would think it over and also consider the 35/1.2. I am selling mine because I just find it too big, but it has a lot of character and is a very special lense. For the time being I am happy with my 35 asph summicron, but somewhere in my future there is a 35 summilux as well. I understand the craving.

In any case I would never do a straight swap, you should swap/trade it in it for a pre asph plus cash.

Interesting question. I have a pre-aspheric, bought new 25+ years ago. Would I do a straight swap for your lens? Probably not. The quality 'increase' wouldn't make up for a bigger lens, where I do not care so well for the ergonomics.

A lot of the pics on my site are taken with the Summilux.

Cheers,

R.

Hey guys,
found myself faced with a dilemma today which I thought would not happen so quickly so I purchased the 35 lux pre-asph! I have yet to sell my cron but am in an enviable position that I can afford it until next month at which point I will decide on one....

Watch this space... 😉

I have a 35 Cron ASPH, which is extremely seldom on a camera.
I actually planned, to sell it when I bought a 35 Lux ASPH (v1), but happened to keep it for the light and distortion free super sharp that I never do actually.

I have a 35 Summaron LTM, which I seldom use, as it's slow and sluggish to operate quickly, compared to modern lenses (aperture ring).

I like the modern ASPH, contrasty look less and less, although I appreciate, that you never go wrong with these lenses, if the image is, what you need.

Therefore, I am lusting also after a pre ASPH Lux and/ or a 35 1.2 CV (the "old" one).

I seem, to have a problem of parting with little used lenses, so fear is there, that I end up with yet another 35mm.

The pre ASPH Lux looks very tempting for it's size, but the CV 35 1.2 has that "angel dust" in the pictures, which would pair so beautifully with the Noctilux f1 - but lugging two of these super big lenses at once (I always have a 50 on a M8.2 and a 35 on a film body) …?
