Bye Bye R-D1s

Just sold my R-D1s about one hour ago to a local RF fan. Looking through the pictures we took together, I hope I made the right decision. M9 please don't let me down.

I will miss you R-D1s and thank you for bring into the world of RF and expensive Leica lens. ;-)

I've had the M9 for a few weeks, just took it on vacation. It certainly lived up to my expectations. I decided to keep the M8 and also have the Olympus EP2. I ended up using the M9 all week.

Thank you guys for the kind words. I loved R-D1s, it was great tool. Low profile and easy to use. When I took pictures on the street, people usually don't pay attention on me.

Now I need to tape out the Leica and M9 signs so I don't attract too much attention.

Since my RD1 left me, I'm missing him terribly. Seriously looking at a used RD1xG ($2.4)maybe give up my 8.2 until I can afford an M9.

I often wonder about the RD-1 and why it's files are so damned nice. The OP's images are some of the best digital black and whites I've seen.

And it does colour in it's own unique way too IMO.

For digital they look very nice on the monitor. I'm curious about how they print, as I have not had much success w/ that from digital files. I suspect the lens Bu11dog used was the reason for the good files. A Leica, one would presume.

every time i think i need to change over to the m8 i start to think...why?

i love the rd1...

the appeal of the m9 is full frame coverage from my lenses...but i will never be in a position to easily afford one.

When I see pictures of any R-D1 I regret that I will have to sell mine. Not only does it perform well, acts like a proper RF, its a looker too. I agree about the IQ, its results are more pleasant than from any other digital camera I've used. But I can't justify having one lying around, not when its residual value it what it is. Its not the R-D1's fault I've gone oveboard with film ( or is it?)
