I am trying to update firmware of my X100 to 1.01 using my MBP 10.6.6 and it seems that the computer can not recognize the camera. I loaded the supplied camera software "Finepix Viewer" and downloaded the latest firmware update. I followed instructions to the letter but computer still can't find the camera so I can copy the update to the media. When I connect the camera though, the camera software opens. I close it then proceed with the process. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here. I uninstall and install several times already and nothing change. Are there issues with Mac compatibility? Thanks!:bang:

Done using my PC laptop whew .......took me a day to figure it out. Thanks anyway I guess not much experience yet from here as the camera is still scarce.

Have you tried just using Image Capture?

My bad, didn't read the post properly.
Your best bet is to just load the firmware onto the SD card via a card reader.

Tried everything in my Mac. I got to know later what I was doing wrong which I could have done in the 1st place; I downloaded only the transfer software and tried to load that darn thing in my media card to no avail. I should have downloaded that 1.86 Mb transfer and the update itself which is 32.2 Mb then put in my desktop double click and voila. Very important to remove any USB connections as it will not load saying I/O Error. Quirky indeed.
