Heavy sigh... and people ask me why I would rather take a train these days...

"When did "taking photographs" become "suspicious behavior" on a plane? Because that's exactly what caused an entire United flight to return to its gate, be evacuated and inspected, leave 2.5 hours late and forced to make an additional stop because of the delay."

Is that a ticking sound?

Is that a ticking sound?

NO! It's only my old Contax RTS.:eek:IMHO there's too much paranoia EVERYWHERE. Refuse to be terrified. Keeping people everywhere in line, it pays very well, and we put the bill.

I was taking pictures of the sun out of a plane window in March. Luckily nobody was on to me. I got my photos and days later I was able to execute my plan of stealing the sun and replacing it with a fake one.

The funny thing is, the terrorists don't have to bother terrorizing anymore. They might as well retire now. They've so totally freaked everyone out over the stupidest sh*t. And it's not just travel-related. It's everywhere.

No kidding.

About three years ago, I heard a call on the police radio at work.

A woman called police to report a suspicious Asian male. Apparently, he was standing on the street in front of a store for about five minutes with his hands in his pockets.

As I recall, the dispatcher laughed about it. I don't believe the police bothered to even go look for the guy.

Have to agree. When the towers hit the ground on 9/11 the terrorists won and they never have to do anything again. People--and governments--have become paranoid about everything and are only perpetuating the problem through massive over-reaction. We're probably a little better off in Canada than in the States but I have American friends who are freaked out about everything. It's truly sad and depressing to talk to them sometimes. Time to get on with our lives...

This is downright stupid but the thing is... those one the plane are more likely to blame the camera holder than the stupid system.

They x-ray us put us throught basic strip searchs at the airports. Old ladys in wheel chairs & 3 year olds alike. All this to make us feel secure to fly. Then down below in the airport you have easy acess to the runways with no security. What a waste of ****ing time & money, You go TSA, job security. Our tax dollars hard at work.

Authorities love this kind of sh@t. It gives them a reason to exist. Set up a nice fat anti terrorist authority and bingo. They find terrorism (or unspeciified devious plans for it) everywhere. Makes for a nice fat pension eventually. Part of the problem too is that the moment some halfwit reports something stupid (but "suspicious") everyone feels they MUST take it oh so seriously - JUST IN CASE! Recently in Australia there was a security "breach" in Sydney. It closed the entire airport for half a day costing millions and delaying throusands of passengers. Nothing was found of course. Now the airlines are suing the airports. Perhaps a few passengers should sue them too.

There's a simple solution to all this. Ban broadcast news media. If there were no broadcast news media the terrorists would get no coverage and no one would be able to spread the politics of fear in the way they do. Globalisation and 24 hour news is not a good thing.

Try working for an airline...you want to see examples of daily waste and stupidity...it's damn near impossible just to GET to work. :(

This is actually very true in principle....news media churn out the sensationalsit sh@t 24-7 in an effort to chase the ratings. Too often the stories are ill conceived rubbish. The sad thing is that this often drive public policy as politicians fall over themselves to be the first to respond.
