It seems most of the info regarding SD cards for the M9 is outdated (2009). Which cards are people using these days and having good luck with? Any to avoid? With my M8 I was using some older 2mb cards, but I need to step it up with the M9 due to file size.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Sandisk Ultra II 16 Gb
Thanks jaapv. So, still to this day that is the best card for the M9? I guess that is why there is no new info.

These are the cards I use with my M9. Except I have the 4GB size that is discontinued. I'll likely be picking up the 8GB size soon enough as I've lost a bunch of them. I don't spend much money on memory cards because I seem to lose them like pens. Also years ago I bought an 8GB CF card for $320 only to see the price fall in half a year later. It just isn't worth it. And fast SD cards are a waste with the M9 because the camera itself is far too slow to take advantage.

I was just playing a bit with this issue in my M8. I was using a Transcend 4GB SDHC class 6 speed card and getting consistent write times of 4.7 seconds for a RAW image. I switched to a Sandisk Extreme III 8GB SDHC, also a class 6 speed rating, but get write times of 3.4 seconds. Quite and improvement. I am timing from the shutter press to the time that the red light stops blinking.

I'm using Transcend Ultimate Class 10 SDHC cards. Work very well with the M9 and very good value.
I understand that I don't need the fastest / newest card, but my question was still relevant DN (since I asked for the M9, not in general). I now know to buy the Ultra cards instead of something else. This is the same info that people in 2009 stated. I thought maybe something changed since then.

Point is, the uncompressed files are 37 Mb, so you will get just over 100 on a 4 Gb card. I always shoot uncompressed, not because there is a significant difference in most ( but not all!) shots, but to be future-proof against anything Adobe can dream up.

I use SILICON POWER - Flash memory card - 8 GB - Class 10 - SDHC, cheap and ok. Why? My dealer has them for a good price.

Might want to format the card in your computer (FAT 32) then reformat again in your camera as per some internet info I discovered just recently.
Prior to the above, I had approx 50 damaged/unreadable files on the Ultra II (sucks as I was in Manhattan for 2 weeks last week - though none were Pulitzer worthy)....
After the double format above, I haven't had any issues with the card...

When I bought my M8.2 from my dealer last year he told me to use Delkin cards because they are very reliable. He said that he has to replace lots of Sandisk and Lexar cards because of defects and never has to replace Delkin cards. They may not be the fastest though. At least that was the story a year ago. I have used a number of SanDisk cards in my D300 and D700 as well and have never had a failure. All manufacturers stand behind their cards with guarantees I am sure. I was just repeating what my dealer told me about Delkin cards. I haven't checked for awhile but Delkin cards were considerably lower priced. Jim
As long as you don't go for the highest capacity card, cards are relatively cheap these days. I'd rather go for the cards that everyone is using without issues, then take chances with others.
