My New Blurb Book: Portfolio

Yup. Link works. Nice extended meditation on light and pattern. Are you satisfied with the technical quality of the book? I have had six good experiences with Blurb and one mis-fire that took a month to resolve. Came out alright in the end.

Well, I have started my experience bad with blurb for my first book a year ago. Their print was very dark. They gave a complimentary second copy in which it was improved but not completely. Then my second experience was ok. This will be the third. I have not taken the print yet. Unfortunately I realized that my introduction was not fit to the text box after I put the order. And they refused to make the correction for me!!! Come on just one fit to text box operation! 🙁(

Anyways I have used zenfolio's complimentary promotion code for this book so I dont care too much...
 
Aykut, I like it.
It is apparent to me that you've spend a lot of time editing the photos and there are a lot of excellent photos in your book especially those depicting people's daily life.

It's also nice to see another interpretation of the photo association concept. I have previously published a blurb book exploring the same concept.

If you allow me two suggestions:
1. Divide your book to several chapters or sections. I can see distinct scenes and subjects in your book that will make neat themes like lines, people, landscapes. This gives a sense of anticipation (if you choose to title the chapters), and also gives your readers a nice break between chapters.

2. Totally personal preference, for photobooks, I like white background with the photo centered in the middle. Why? because it gives the photo a nice separation from the table (or wherever the book is viewed on).

Thank you very much for your words and suggestions. I am glad that you liked. Regarding the chapters I was thinking to do the same like you say to put titles but I could not find a nice way yo put it. If I added a page for title then the associated photos would be in different pages. And I was rushing for that promotion period 🙂

You know what I started the book just to put my photos randomly and then I realized the beauty of the concept when I put some photos side by side...Then I rushed into the idea and digged into more photos with associations/contrast taken in completely different times and this is the result. I really want to revise this book and make a better one. There was sometimes no connection between some photos. I need to fill the gaps.

I will certainly consider your suggestions next time.

You can always insert 2 pages instead of 1 to keep photo associations.
The idea of chapters I would agree with.
An introduction is always useful to set the scene.
At the back a page or so about taking the photos and equipment used is of interest to the photogs here.

Thought a lot of the photos were very well seen, and loved 'the dog'.

Thank you for the suggestion of 2 pages...Well as you see, taking photos is one kind of art and preparing a nice book of your photos is another art which I am just being familiar 🙂
