Ignore It (It'll go away)
I shot at Carnival last year, but I only shot the set-up areas. If I can make it, I'll do the same, and I might try to make it up to the parade route this time (so I can shoot some backs
).

I'll be there. I'll also be hitting the Chinese New Years Parade next month. Fun stuff.

A gentle nudge to remind.
I'm trying to figure out how to get the vibrant colors with Portra 400. Need the speed.

I have some Agfa Ultra still around that I'll break out. Should be fun.

Here is a map of the parade route. Unless something pops up I should be there.

I hope to see some of you there. Fingers are crossed that my Red Luxecase for my X100 will come in time. Going Contax RTSIII and 100-300mm lens and the X100.
Any tips as to best place to shoot? My last Carnival was six years ago.
I'll be there. I'll shoot the setup/staging area, which last year was in the early AM on Bryant street. Not sure if I'll have the time to hit the route or the other sites, but if I do, I will.

Hey Gang,
I should be there in the staging area early AM as well. Here's a link where I contributed some images to a friend's article in the online SF Examiner last year:

Say hi...

I don't know any of you in that I haven't attended any get-togethers... I work all of the time. I'll try to make it to the staging area. If you see someone with a red leather half case and strap on an X100 and a Contax with long lens, then that will probably be me. Introduce yourself if you have time between feathers and body painting.
I sure hope the case gets here from Korea before the weekend. It is now on a plane.
Last year's photos look great.. Now I'm excited about going... Great photo event.
See you there... Gary

What time do all of you get to the assembly area and what intersection are we talking about?

The staging area is on Bryant St. between 18th and Cesar Chavez.

The parade is really early this year, 9:30 AM according to the website. So I'll probably be there around 7-7:30 AM with M9 in hand. No worries about a Press Pass (I happen to have one) unless you want to follow the parade in the street once it starts.

Warning: Bart and Bridge Closures
Warning: Bart and Bridge Closures
You probably know this should you live in the East Bay...
One tube under the bay will be closed until 2:00PM and two lanes shut down on the Bay Bridge.. don't know the details.
So, plan accordingly....

I can't believe it. Relatives showed up .. No plans, no notice .. can't go.
The pressure is on:
You have to post your photographs after the parade..
Not happy, but want to stay married.

Sorry bwc.
It was raining pretty hard in the city this afternoon (Saturday) but Yahoo weather has it clear and sunny tomorrow.

All are good, but I really like the one of the women walking in the middle of the street.

Gary, great to see/meet you and your daughter (and all the other photogs). Glad you could make it. Thanks for letting me paw the X100. Hope you got some good shots.
