Canon LTM New To Me Canon Vt Body!

Canon M39 M39 screw mount bodies/lenses
Package just received and opened from Essex Camera Service.

Inside, Canon VT Body, Canon 7S Body, and Mint 100mm F3.5, all completely and fully restored to perfection. I am completely back in business. Will be fully testing it all very shortly. I also have a completely restored Canon 7 that I have been using while these were being cleaned. The 7S Meter is now working perfectly and appears to be dead accurate.

Amazing how immaculate and perfect the 100mm is. This sucker is like, MINT. Quite a little gem.

I am pleased.

So Essex is my go-to place for Canon RF body and lens CLA work?

They have worked on most of my Canon lenses and bodies, and I've always been pleased. They are very quick, too. Just cashed my check yesterday, and it's only been a bit over a week including shipping both ways.

Both New Canons Loaded with Eastman XX.

Both New Canons Loaded with Eastman XX.

These two are just back from Essex Camera Service, and appear to be functioning perfectly so far. I have always been pleased with their servicing in the past.

Canon VT with halfcase and 19mm F3.5 FL Canon and "B" Adapter. One of my favorite lenses.

Canon 7S with 100mm F2 RF Canon, and Mr. Zhou "Canon P" calfskin Black Case, which tightly fits the 7S and is quite usuable!! I'm extremely pleased, I'll be keeping this for the 7S. I had a Mr. Zhou on M5 and I loved it, this 7S is the replacement for that one. All is good

Mint 100mm F3.5 also back from Essex, good as new, and basically in Mint condition. This lens was used previously by a photographer whose subjects included famous Jazz musicians (Gillespie, Davis, Coltraine, etc). I love knowing the history about it, I am stoked to own it!

I had a Vt in the late sixties. I retrospect, I suppose it was a fine camera. I was a novice, and never really got going on it. I think the body seemed too big for what it was. The selectable finders for 50 and 35 seemed like a cool idea. I had an Elmar 35, a Canon 50 and a Canon 85 (f1.9?) I paid $200 for the kit in '69, and sold it for $200 in about '76. I wish I had known then what I know now. (don't we all?)

I guess there's a special satisfaction to using Leica gear, but I'm just happy as a pig in s_ _ _ w/ my Canon gear. My Model P, L1, and several lenses are a throwback to a simpler time and look so cool. I get curious comments on my gear everywhere I go in Korea.

Went out yesterday and had an enjoyable time working with the new VT, the 100mm F3.5, and my 100mm Viewfinder.

A question, though. Can the Canon Viewfinders with the distance-setting levers on the back be used OK on the VT? Any downsides to doing that, other than it might not be as quick as the Auto-Adjusting Viewfinders designed specifically for the VT?

Focusing the rangefinder is quick and easily pleasant at the long viewfinder-setting, then set the distance on the focus scale, to the lever on the viewfinder. View the final composition, and shoot. Very neat, speedy, and precise procedure, takes about three seconds.

Love the view through the Canon Black Accessory Viewfinders. It's great! Going out again today, shooting Canon RF XX pictures.

Probably is my quick answer. I can tell you that my chrome Canon 35mm viewfinder with a focusing ring (not lever) has a small depression built into its base that lines up right above the "focusing stud" on my Canon L1. Plenty of clearance, so I can use the viewfinder without worry that it will hit the pin while focusing.

OK Thanks! I have seen the Chrome 35mm Finders with the focusing ring, perhaps I will pick one up at some point. Does the 35mm chrome finder have framelines in it?

Hey Tom,
You're welcome. Was good to talk to you. I have #503112, very close serial numbers. Good Luck with the Microdol-X, it's really one of my favorite developers.
