M9-P 20 pieces; M3-P 20 pieces

What's the over/under on odds that one of these 40 cameras will be used to take photos?

Well, the Kings, Princes, and other billionaires who can actually get one of these gems probably don't have the time to actually take photos with them.:D

If I had one I would be reluctant to use it. I had rather have something I could actually get some use out of.

Do store-branded Leicas, bearing "Leica Shop" or "Ffordes" logos, command a premium, or a discount?

Actually I kind of like the retro-look M3-P, though I think a more appropriate name would have been MP-3. And if these special editions had been paired with the 50/1.4 they would have looked better proportioned but I guess stuff like this is for the buyer who must have "the best" - as in "the most expensive" - whether or not a Noctilux is actually better for most purposes.

Then again I have always had a thing for "Safari" M-bodies; I love how they look as a body-only and the color seems to suit both black and chrome lenses. But that's just me...

Heck, why not at least use it - owning it is an entirely different matter... financially.

Because the lens is massive. It's heavy and will block out a large portion of the viewfinder. The fast aperture is nice, but not worth it (for me).

I wonder if this is why Leica can't keep the shelves stocked with their "normal" cameras and lenses...

That's why if I ever found myself with one I would immediately sell it and buy 5 user bodies. Not to mention an entire host of lenses, compact and large in all speeds. Then Id take the rest of the cash and go on vacation :D
