Problems with film - help?

hi guys, I just scanned some 120 film and I found out that its blueish.
I know its not the scanner, nor the camera, so it must be either the developing skills of the lab technician or the quality of the film.
here are two of the photos I've got today.
that do you think?

Film: 120 - Kodak Ektakolor Pro160
Camera: Mamiya 7, lens without any filter
Scanner: V500

I appreciate any opinions on this.

Get some 4x6 prints from the lab and see if the color cast is there as well.

Have you scanned film with the V500 before? Was the film expired or exposed to extreme heat? I think the only variable that you can really eliminate from suspicion is the camera, unless it accepts filters at the rear of the lens...

yes, I scan almost every day, B&W, slides, everything, I have double checked the settings and they are ok for color negative film. I know its not the scanner.
Camera, it cant be, as I said I have scanned slides that that later than this film.

FILM IS EXPIRED but less than a year expired and has been in the fridge and freezer since I bought it.

It might just be the scanner settings. I almost always need to manually rebalance color negatives after scanning.

Yeah, looks like the colors are all in there ok, but your white is off like it didn't correct for this particular film base. I can get loads of different color casts in Vuescan picking standard settins for this film or that. Does the software let you pick a neutral area for the whitebalance?

I'm using Epson software that came with the scanner. thing is, its strange that if the white balance was off, it didnt show it while I was scanning slides yesterday.

I did a thread here about my scanning woes 😱
It shows my steps from scratch. You may need to sign up to that forum to see images (I'm not sure, perhaps not). It's really very simple so long as all the information is there in the scan ie no colour channels are clipped. I used Nikon's Capture NX2 but all PP software will have the same adjustments available.

do think Epson scan soft is good or I should try vuescan or something else?

To the OP, try scan again, tell the software you are scanning color negative film. I think you are seeing the inverse of the orange color mask of color negative film.

yes I have done that, I double checked all settings and it was in "color negative film" (not that I had many options anyways, only B&W, Color and Slides..) do you think I should do all what Peter did to scan C41 film every time I do it? uhh..

Recently I've been using Epson Scan because I can get it to batch scan allowing me to get on with my life. You can see the batch scanning method here and there's some more about the technique I use here. Actually there looks to be quite a lot of stuff on that chap's website.

thanks Pete, I'm already scanning again these 2 rolls. I know its not perfect but this is direct from the scan, no photoshop yet, its already looking -a lot- better.

Everything looks great except the blueish color, did you isolate the image with the cropping tool. What above says is right, I would guess there, if not what I said, a scanning problem with you not the scanner.

I ran the mini through my PSE6 and got a green colored car, and a great british flag. I won't post as the last time I did that I got my A** kicked by LeicaTom.

as Pete said, my white balance in the scanner was completely off for some reason, I just explored more into the epson scan software and pick the white I wanted, then the picture popped up with the right colours.
