Engraved camera (by a high end photographer) be worth more?


Not saying I am selling mine anytime soon - but my m6 ttl .85 has engraved Aleš Bravničar on the top plate.


Just curious.

He's probably already sold it at a knock down price because no other M user is likely to be called Aleš Bravničar. Leica can replace the top plate and restore the camera to pristine condition.

Just guessing here, but unless it's HCB or Erwitt we're talking about (or maybe 20 other really famous guys) I doubt the engraving will increase the price, and I would even think it would decrease it.
Also depends how nicely the engravings were done.

My M3 has "Walter Gruner" on the back just below the shutter release button ... Googling the guy gets some results but nothing photography related and it's on my to remove list when the camera finally goes into paint.
