Replace 35/1.4 with 28/1.9 ?

Here the story:

Initially, I have Nokton 35/1.4 for my M8,then I bought Plannar 50/2.
Now, I'm feeling that 35mm not wide enough for me.
I plan to have only 2 lens : 50mm and wide lens for street and lanscape .

Is it wise to replace the magnificent Nokton 35/1.4 with lens below?
Ultron 28/1.9 or 28/2

Appreciate, if you can help to choose and "open" my mind.

I would prefer it. I am more interested in even wider though. The pictures I have seen are fantastic from the 28/1.9.

If you get the 28/1.9, make sure you get a proper Voigtländer Type 2 adapter that can be 6-bit coded, or your pictures will suffer cyan corners if you use a UV/IR filter. Also, don't get a cheap adapter since these are often too thick or too thin, which will mess up focusing. A proper Voigtländer (or Leica) M39->M adapter will ensure proper focusing with the lens.

You won't have to worry about an adapter with the 28/2, since it's M mount. Allegedly (I didn't use it), the 28/2 has higher contrast, but MAY suffer from slight focus shift. The difference in speed is negligible.

Sounds like you need/want at least a 28 or even something wider. I have both the 28 Ultron and the 35 Nokton. While I like the size, handling, and build of the 35 better, they are both nice lenses and I am very pleased to own and use them. Perhaps you should look at something wider, though, as long as lens speed is not an issue.

You got my point, yes actually I need wider than 28 due to crop factor on M8.
But I don't have big buck to buy 21/2.8 or 24/2.8, the option probably;Skopar 21/4 or 25/4.

I need wide open because give shallow DoF and I love it.

That makes it easy... a 28/21mm it is... Now, the next question is this: Do you need the extra 2 stops of speed of the 28/1.9 over the 21/4?

This thread got me thinking... I don't have an M8 or M9, (Just my R2) but I've been pretty happy with my 35 / 50mm combo and now I wonder if a 28 / 50mm combo would be more versatile. Especially considering I have the Fuji X100 which is only a 35mm (equiv.)

Hmmmm.....

Finally I added CV 21/4 to my lens line (35 and 50).
On M8 ,21mm equivalent to 28mm..this nice focal lens. Not too hard to compose.

So my opinion, 28mm and R2 will be perfect combination ,

I shoot a 28 Summicron or Elmarit on my M8 but find it's a neither-nor lens. Typically, I carry a 35 f 1.4 and a 28 Elmarit, backed up by a 75.

Yes I would do the same, but I'd probably go for the newer 28/2.

However, I kept both my m lenses at 35/2 and 50/1.4.

The reason is when my m is mounted with the 35/2, I will have the ep3 mounted with 45/1.8.

When the m is mounted with the 50/1.4, I will have thw ep3 mounted with the 12/2.

I hate the idea of changing lenses in the middle of a photo walk for example.
