I have a problem with my WLF (waist level finder)it no long opens correctly. There is a roller rod which is attached to a leaf spring that pushes on the top lid of the wlf. This should act like a cam to give that snap and hold open force when you open the WLF. But it no longer correctly engages at the start as instead of running on the outside front of the top it gets caught on the bottom edge. If you get it by the start everything works OK.
The repair manual is no help as it doesn't really show the normal position. I suspect the top is bent slightly out or is worn but never having seen it when it is working I don't know?
Any help or pointer to people in the know would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Ryan

If this is the spring I think, you might remove the hood and see if it has come loose from its internal catch? There's a slot on the sides that projects down and the end of the spring goes in there.

I don't think it is, it looks like a leaf out of a car leaf spring and it is firmly screwed in place. It is the roller that the spring drives that doesn't seem to be hitting the top plate in the correct place. The repair manual is no help as all it shows is the explode view.

Oh, that dessign! Sorry, was confused and been working on some Japanese TLRs today.
Not certain what to say. All I can suggest is study and see if you can find the bent or missing piece(s). One thing I've noticed with TLRs is that the mechanism are really rather simple, and the actions are observable since they didn't need to be super small and at .001" tolerance.

got the same issue, the spring is really hard to push back in place after open the rod. Any suggestions on how to do this easier?

When I replaced my focusing screen I removed this roller, and now I can't seem to get things back into their proper place. If I screw the clip/roller back in, then I can't get the hood to sit properly. Without the roller in, the hood is not secure. Is there some trick that I'm missing here?

Even the 480 something page service manual doesn't seem to particularly say anything. I can actually close up the camera without screwing in the roller, and the hood isn't falling out. It's just not as smooth and obviously the part is there for a reason.
If anyone has any experience, please let me know!
I'm working on a 2.8C, not an MX-EVS, but the part seems to be the same for Rolleiflexes of that vintage without the easy to remove focusing hood.
