Hey all, been lurking for a while and just got my account activated a few days ago. Figured I'd kick off my first post with a bang.
Try and keep it simple:
Try and keep it simple:
- What can often help you achieve more than anything else is simply a genuine smile
- Good results are worth waiting for [/anti-digital rant]
- "Brand-new" != better. Likewise, it's not the guy with the foot-and-a-half long telephoto bajillion-dollar super-zoom lens that will embarrass your photo-skills, it's the guy with the beat-to-**** full frame body and a tiny prime (no pun intended) that you've got to watch out for.

Without getting too deep,
I have learnt that;
The answer is always "YES!"
Whenever I ask myself - "Should I bring a camera?"

You beat me to it..
Nothing ever happens twice.. so always be prepared to shoot it the first time.

The best camera is one that still works!
A pretty girl can improve any picture.
And a naked one can make it sensational!

Top 3 over the last few years for me:
Push the boundaries of what you're willing to do. If you shy away from an opportunity you WILL regret it down the track, wether it been sooner or later.
Connect your heart to your eyes and the world around you. Photograph with feeling. Practice the technical side of photography so that it's second nature and you don't have to think about it - just feel what's going down. The more emotionally connected you are, the more you will connect emotionally with people who view your photographs.
Meet and become friends with as many people as you possibly can.

Once a moment is gone, it's gone forever.
But it's better to keep your camera ready rather than regretting because: 1) Regretting is always useless; 2) Another one will always come; 3) Don't miss it again.
The word moment could be replaced by many things, the logic being still true.
And it's always advised to leave enough room for food in the fridge.

Keep good company. Great knowledge here and the weekly gallery picks on RFF are some of the best photographs you will ever see.

Photographer?
I guess photography has taught me that there is beauty around us; it's just a matter of finding it. Being a good photographer means seeing things that other people can't see.
Also, like varjag, it's taught me that I like it when pretty girls let me take pictures of them. The world needs more of these pretty girls that need their pictures taken.

... likes film again.
It taught me ...
It taught me ...
... to carry a camera everyday and that the best photo situations come when a) there is no film in the camera, b) the film not completely advanced c) exposure setting and focus setting from the last shot are way off... it is fun, though !
