Hey Nick,
andersju's other thread says he's traveling with an x100. The guy's not even 30 and he's here from Sweden crossing the nation by train. Absolutely amazing on many levels.
Thanks,
barry
Hi Barry, I will look for that "traveling with the X100 thread". Thanks for the tip! Late here, but will enjoy that one tomorrow.
That's it...
Nick

October 6, Occupy Wall Street Protests, Philadelphia, PA

Nick, one of the best signs and ideas I've seen so far.
In response to the 'charged nature of the event' remember this could equally be about photos of the people of Cairo when they went to the streets just months ago. No outrage, name calling, finger pointing or calls for closure there.

My wife, a public school teacher, said "I can't go to Zuccotti Park and get arrested; I'll lose my job." So, instead, we went first to Union Square and then, later, to Washington Square Park. Union Square was crowded on Saturday, but more by people merely out to enjoy the warm weather than to protest anything. We walked down to Washington Square where there was more action. Without getting political, it seems to me that the "occupiers" have failed to coalesce around anything yet but shared frustration. I saw at least four M8's and a whole passel of TLRs, so it was certainly an event with lots of photographers in attendance.

The top level of NYC's uniformed police officers made an appearance. One of their rank stirred controversy last week with the pepper spray incident. These guys seemed interested in avoiding any similar confrontation.

I can't say that I exactly understood the message of what I'll describe as performance art piece at Union Square, nor am clear as to whether or not this was intended to be part of the protest or something else altogether. Nevertheless, the image was certainly disturbing.
