As you know, I'm trying to sell my Canon 50mm f0.95.
But I got a pretty reasonable quote from DAG to modify it to Leica M mount.
Frankly, one of my reasons to sell the lens is that I don't like shooting the Canon 7. I'm getting ornery in my old age and the only RF cameras that I like are the M's. I only barely tolerate shooting my IIIg/IIIf.
But the purist in me doesn't like permanent modifications either.
I want to throw out the question anyway - should I keep the 50/0.95 and modify it for M mount?
Might be fun with an M9.

I vote modify. When push comes to shove Id rather use it on an M.

Enjoy the lens and whatever else you have.
You might want to ask DAG how long it takes. I know someone who has had more than one of these lenses there for over a year...

Modify for sure. Sold my M6 18mths ago and have used Canon P until last week when I saw a mint M6 Ti. Can't believe I waited that long to use M film camera with my M9.

Modify it,
if the turn around time is reasonable.
...it should be an easier lens to sell in M mount.

I'd say modify it. I think it is Tom A. that said, he doesn't sell any of the lenses, because they are always there to play with if you want to.

Why not use a ltm adapter an just leave it on the lens?
That's what I do.

Personally, I think the .095 is absurdly large on a Leica M. I have one of these lenses, and I like it, but I keep it attached to the Canon 7 it came with.
If you decide to modify it, be sure to send your M along with it so the lens can be adjusted to the camera. The depth of field at wide aperture/close distance is almost non-existent, so even a small misadjustement will cause out of focus images.

The Canon 50/.095 is not an LTM lens, it uses a special bayonet mount which works only on the Canon 7 camera. If you look at the base of the lens you'll see the collar which is used to lock the lens to the bayonet mount on the camera, there are no threads.

I did not know that. Thank you. Was this the only RF lens that canon did this too?

Yes, it is the only one. If you look at any Canon 7 you'll see it has an external bayonet on the lens mount flange. You can see the collar at the eleven oclock position on my Canon 7

Don't modify it. Set it aside or sell it and the camera it came on and buy what you want. I've learned the hard way about modifying things to make them close to the thing I really want. It has cost me a fortune and didn't get me what I really wantred.

There were several long telephoto lenses Canon made for their rangefinders that aren't LTM. These are bayonet mount lenses that fit onto a separate accessory mirror box.

Beautiful!!!! How much would it cost to re-leave you of this nearly intolerable camera. I'm a Canon fan and would give it a good home.

It would be fun with m9, or nex-7 for that matter.
Only a matter of money. Heck Prof Sweeney is putting pre war sonnars into jupiter ltms every other sunday---why not an m-mount on the .95?
Long as it comes out usable, which I'm sure it would with DAG, then you or someone else can enjoy it.
I think the lens is under-rated:

in between the fuzzy shots you see some wonderful ones.
