Did you send bulk loaded film rolls to lab for development?

Thinking about bulk loading color films. If so, how do you get back your reloadable film cartridge from lab like costco/walmart/cvs? Will they damage the cartridge? 🙂

developging my own film

i develop my own bulk film, of course i'm using bw iso 100 or 400, i have a Computrol film loader and 6 plastic cassettes, i asked at a local lab and they said they develop bulk loaded film but i didn't buyed yet any color bulk film, if someone here have experience with bulk color i'm interested to hear some thoughts.

It really depends on the lab, I think. When bulk loading XP2, I got my cassettes back from some labs, and not from others. When I could expect not to get them back, I tried to re-use normal disposable metal canisters. Reusing them once is fine. I could get them from a minilab if I didn't have spares.

That was in Germany. Here and nowadays I have C41 processed and scanned only at a minilab (development + scan for about $1...), no problem there.

I reuse film cartridges once so have never bothered to ask for them back. I do understand your concern though since you have proper reloadable cartridges. As rxmd says it will depend on the lab, you should ask what their policy is before you even load film into a cassette. Tough with color film, I now use digital for what little color I do but never used color bulk film for some reason.

The lab I use will return the cassettes if asked. And they cab be reused many times if they are always kept in the plastic containers.

Where do you buy bulk color film? Which films are available?

ultrafine is selling some expired portra 160 in bulk rolls. I will order some once I figure out how to get this development thing working.
