which replace leather best fit (from camera leather )

I know levant black or griptac are among most popular for rd1. But would like to hear more suggestions before I put the order.

Do you want it to have good grip, or do you want it to look posh, or do you want it to have fancy colours, or do you want to have a "popular" covering whatever that is?

Regarding best fit, they all fit equally well.

You can get lots of suggestions, but all you get is that other people tell you their own preferences. What do you want?
 
I put levant on a a IIIf and griptac on an XD-11. Both are perfect, "factory fit". I prefer the griptac.

Thanks for all the kind and help inputs. Ya, I am looking for someone close to the original leather of the Rd-1 or something looks/feels belong to the camera itself. One of my friend ordered Levant last time and seems he is happy with it.

Griptac is too out of the place on a vintage style camera, as I always think. But another sound rises, "why not give it a try?"
 
Griptac looks old-fashioned enough, I have it on my M5 and it doesn't look out of place. The R-D1 isn't really all that "vintage style" to begin with if you come to think of it.
 
i like the grip tac best. if you look at the rd1 there is actually only 2 small pieces on the front that need changing...unles you plan on taking the rear hump off.

Thanks again. After I viewed all the re-leathered R-D1 on the internet, I think I preferr the look of the Griptac most (Funny, as it's totally against my intial idea).

Just ordered one set from Morgan. Thanks again for all the kind suggestion and sharing in the thread.
 
that particular camera body now belongs to ethan in toronto...my rd1s had the griptac stripped off when i sent the camera to epson japan for a cla. my 'new' rd1 has the original cover.

i have been thinking about getting the griptac again, this time in black and one in grey.

Joe, you made the right call! It sticks in my hands, and looks good to boot. Although I wish that grip pictured had been included in the sale...;) They still available?
