What is your favorite 120 format?

what is your favorite 120 format independent of camera (e.g. Say you can get a Pentax 67 that shoots 6x6 or a Rolleiflex that shoots 6x9, etc.)?

I'll take 6x7 any day - great for printing, and less crop to make a square should I want (not too often) than it is to get an 8x10 or 16x20 from a 6x6 negative.

That, and I *do* love that Pentax 67II with a 105/24!

6x6 photography is not about printing on square paper any rectangular format negative, but about composing through a square finder... A totally different experience because there's no longer side...

When we print a square negative, we're allowed to use the rest of the sheet for proofs and strips...

I mostly shoot 6x4.5, but can also do 6x6 (TLR) & 6x7 (View Camera w/Calumet C-2)
But I like 6x6 the bestest...Love the Square...

Understood on all counts Juan - and there's a Yashica-MAT 124G around the house just in case. Alas, that whole square composition thing just doesn't seem to work quite as well in my head as it does for others.

6x7 just WORKS for me, either orientation, much better than anything else, and I consider it a plus that it's a nice ratio to print.

I'm content with anything from 6x7 to 6x12, depending on the situation or parameters of the job.

Over the years, I've worked my way thru 645, 6X6, 6X9 and 6X12. Finally settled on 6X7, it just works for me.

The 6x6 format just resonates with me, all around. I love everything about it especially composing in the square through the viewfinder. BTW, I have nothing against cropping however I can count on one hand the amount of times I've cropped from a square down to a rectangle (and two of the five times or so it was because of some sort of damage to the roll like a light leak). I'm a square freak. If 120 disappears I'm going to pay someone to meld a digital back onto my Rolleiflex. Anyway...

6x9 is a close second because you approach that LF 3-D effect. I'm sure larger formats get exponentially better in this regard but I've personally never tried them.

I have shot quite a bit with a 6X7 and it's a great format but I have recently started to shoot 6X6 and I like the fact that I can make a horizontal or a vertical or a square print. I really like the 6X6. Jim

6x4.5 is seriously lagging the other formats so I'm casting my vote there to give it a boost. My preference is for rectangular formats, and 645 gives me that in a compact portable package. Next favorite is 6x9 (my old folder). I've tried 6x6 but didn't take to it.

It's kind of weird. I love 4x5 and 8x10 LF views but I am uncomfortable with the 6x7 medium format aspect ratio. Anyway, 6x6 for everything. If a landscape doesn't fit right into the 6x6 frame I MAKE it fit.
