New 35mm film/movie camera

It shoots at 3-5 frames a second, so it's obviously not going to be for "real" films, but I'm sure many will have fun with it.

Creating a film may be a real pain though, scanning each frame individually. Maybe Lomo will offer processing/scanning for it.

I think it's decent value for something novel, niche, and probably good fun.
 
Seems like a pretty cool toy. It's not going to replace HD dSLRs or Super-16, but you could get a lot of mileage out of forcing yourself to tell a story in 144 frames/45 seconds. Or just capturing your drunk friends for a minute at a party (too bad the max aperture is f/5.6).

There are a lot of things to dislike about Lomo and Lomography, but I appreciate it when they bring a sense of fun to the table.

Lomo lab tech here,

Yep we are offering process and scan, software for compiling frames is in late stage beta and should be a free download on the site a bit later this month.

also it is compatible with flashes, lomo and other brands, we used it with a 430ex and the "fritz blitz" flash and both can keep up at a normal crank speed, so although its max aperture is 5.6 flash is an option (as much as flash isnt always the thing you want to use)

To address some other notes, you get around a 45 sec movie from hand cranking at a "normal" rate.

technically there is no reason, due to its construction, why a bulk load back could not be made, but i have no clue if that would or would not be a plan for the future, personally id love to see it.
 
Come on guys, at least give props for inventiveness! AND more avenues for film use. It may not be your thing, but it keeps the film industry going and a way for the masses to use film in a fun way.
I mean, I know RFF has a lot of older conservative types on the forum, who are entrenched in traditional RF methods and equipment. But this lomo thing does require some artful processes, rather than just a Digital-no brainer-do everything-camera.

Good to know, I actually used Lomo Lab just a couple of months ago, it's not cheap, but I did find the cross processing results *a lot* better than what I got from another lab.

I'd love to get a Lomokino, but I doubt I'd use it much. I do think it's a very interesting product though, like a lot of Lomography stuff.

My thoughts exactly, Lomography make products other manufacturers would never dream of.

I actually don't find much to dislike about Lomography, some products are way overprice sure, but no-one makes you buy them. Besides, pretty much every camera out there worth owning is overpriced.
 
The little video on their website makes that camera look so fun! I always loved stop motion as a kid. We used to make videos with old star wars toys and a VHS camcorder 🙂

Thanks for joining in and giving further information!

Best is that the LomoKinoScope is offered as well, and in an very affordable package.
Therefore the users can avoid the bothering and time consuming scanning. A true analogue way of viewing, that is exactly what is needed.
As one of Lomos mottos is "leave the digital grind behind" the next welcome step should be a real projector for projecting the lomomovies on a screen. For the real movie feeling, cinema at home, in your own comfortzone!!
We want it big and impressive, not on those mini, crappy computer monitors 😡.
By the way, we have to sit in front of the computer in our jobs all day long.
In our leisure time we want to really leave the digital grind behind, not being a computer-slave anymore.
In our free time we want real analogue experience. Please give us a projector for real cinema experience.
We love projection with our still pictures, with slide projectors. We also want that for the movies.

Instead of using the scanning method shown and a 36exp roll of BW.. I'd just shoot the individual frames with a digi p&s then invert them in PS to load the frames into a piece of movie software... could end up with a movie as long as you want... just add another roll of BW to the camera just like real movie cameras.. then expose again. I could see doing up to 2 minute clips of this stuff for fun. Wait and see... it's going to get hit hard. My bet is someone is already getting ready to do a music video using one. Just need a little imagination that's all. Even mix and match.. colour + BW in one clip.. with some xpro too!

When I've got some spare cash I'm going for one. I've a lot of 35mm I can use that's expired. Perfect solution to using that stuff up!
 
Ive already had 3 or 4 people ask about a projector in store, so this does seem to be gaining a good amount of interest.

Ill say now sadly we have no sway over the R&D and future product development, as that is based at HQ in vienna, ive already posited the idea on a bulk back to them, and ill be sure to forward on your post just keep the fingers crossed enough people express an interest and that they think it will be possible to make and be profitable to produce.

im waiting for someone to try and modify the viewer with some type of lamp and lens assembly we have not got any un-boxed in store to play with but im intrigued at finding out if its possible.

Any questions about lab stuff (uk based here, but i can always try and answer for other districts) or the kino itself ill be more than happy to try and help.
