Where to get Bay II yellow filters?

Just got a 3,5 F from a friend and put a roll through it today. The lens doesn't have much contrast and I'm used to having a yellow filter on whatever I shoot when doing B&W.

Where can I get a yellow filter in the Bay II for the 3,5 F model??

If you don't want to spend a lot of cash on a filter you could try these people. I have a couple of items from them and they are not the worst I've seen:

Must admit, I wonder if something else is going on if you find a 3.5F lens lacking in contrast.

I bought one on ebay from the local guy in Kiev ridiculously cheap..

with a bit of patience, i found a bayonet II lens hood, original H-1 (UV) filter and Rolleinar close-up lens set on ebay. these are all for sale now, in the RFF classified ads. if i remember correctly, original color filters were easier to find than the H-1. just do a close search, with email notification, and you'll find what you need pretty quickly.

Thanks, but my 3,5F came with the original Hood, UV filter, and Rolleinar II, and one other filter I don't know what it is called a Rolleipol but it has separated and is no longer any good.

Heliopan was (and maybe still is) producing filters for different bayonets (including I, II, III and IV for Rollei). I can still see new ones over at http://fotomayr.de

I have not made a print yet from my first roll through the camera, but the contact sheet was lacking a good bit of contrast. Scanning a frame showed that it looked pretty good (all settings turned off, straight scan only) and didn't need much to touch it up. Plus I'm used to using a yellow filter with all my Black and White shooting on other cameras so maybe that was just it.

I found a Bay II set at a local dealer--I'll ask if he has any more next time I'm in. Another option is you could buy the Bay II to 39mm adapter off ebay, and use commonly available filters. I don't know if you can use your hood, then, which is what had stopped me from trying it..

I haven't used the particular setup, a Bay II to 39mm. But I really doubt that an outside-mounting Bay II filter would fit. On a Bay III mount, the external mount filter leaves enough room for the Bay III internal to fit with little room to spare.

Use a standard round screw-in hood. I used to use a Bay I to 52mm adapter, and found that a standard metal shade was actually a bit too tall after the adapter and a filter went on. So check for vignetting before heading out to shoot a lot! Considering the number of round shades used on formats like 35mm 2:3 ratio, a round shade on a square image is pretty efficient.

And since people often ask, even though the Bay I to 52mm adapter did block the front of the viewing lens a bit, I didn't notice any shading on the ground glass or a drop in brightness. I don't understand why not- maybe the system is so crude in the first place, and the human brain so good at compensating for such things, that it doesn't matter?

The Rolleipol is/was a polarized filter for the Rolleiflex. Heliopan has make a new one. The majority of the original ones separated. You first put it on the viewing lens, rotate like a circular polarizer - when you have the desired amount of polarity - take it off the viewing lens and mount on the taking lens. The new Heliopan ones are much better.

I used to buy all my filters from kohscamera.com. They have a lot in stock but sometimes they don't update their website with current stock. You should call them!

I got the Bay II adaptor from Adorama thourgh eBay which allows use of my Leica 39mm filters, but my TLR is Bay IV so it is not use. If anyone wants it, give me an address and I will post it. Was not expensive - I think under $30 are they seemed to be readily available but not for Bay IV.

Yes. I have actually done that with the medium yellow Rollei filters in Bayonet I, II and III, and the light yellow filter in Bayonet I.

You can let an optician make the new glass to fit, or you can order filter glass without mounts in the correct size from B+W.

You can always try KEH. I got an infrared Bay II filter there ( original ) for my 'flex.
