i miss brian sweeney

He will be missed, one of the true boffins on RRF. But removal of his images smacks of something deeper going on if he no longer wants to share his knowledge with RFF members. Its like the vicar burning down the church.

Steve

The reason his photo's are gone is because they were linked to flickr. He dropped his flickr account so no more photo's. Perhaps at some point he will be back.

Nothing deeper going on, he wasn't pushed, we all want him back.
He must have decided that his life would be simpler/happier/better without the frustrations of online forums. Hope it's just a vacation.

Does anyone know if he is continuing to post in other photo forums, or has withdrawn from those as well?

He was one of my fav's and never made me feel dumb when I asked dumb questions. He was the opposite of a flamer! I wish he would return also!

He did the same thing several years back, got mad at something and vanished. It took him over a year, but eventually he came back. But maybe this time he'll pull a Bill Matlock and vanish for good.

Personally I don't care one way or the other. This is only a photo forum and in the great scheme of things, really isn't all that important. People come, people go. Such is life.

....but friendship (even on a photo forum) last forever.:)

Merry Christmas, Jim.

Brian is a great guy and has many friends here. We started a local RFF (Southeast and Atlanta) group for us to add to the RFF experience. If you want just a forum...knock yourself out!

We, on the other hand have made many friends and learned so much that we enjoy each other.

Brian was a valuable asset to all here at RFF and his leaving will create a big hole in the knowledge base here. More than that he was always a gentleman in my few dealings with him. I wish him all the best in his future endeavours.

Bob

He posts on getdpi forum.

Bummer he left rff.

You know--this is truly odd.
I haven't seen anything by Brian himself that says--"I'm leaving..."
All have been he said-she said.
Anything from the source?

Yes I communicated with Brian 2 weeks ago and he has decided to stop posting here. I will miss him too and truly hope he will return at some point.

He also posts at seriouscompacts.com as well as his Zeiss forum.

pretty bad news... it was always great to read what he had to share. sometimes it's good to step away from things to get some fresh air sometimes, I hope he comes back.

Really, it is sad to see someone whose knowledge is greatly appreciated leave your favorite forum. In that sense, it could be considered a loss. But, the general tone of this thread makes it sound like Brian is lost to all of us forever, which of course is bogus.

In the future when you need to tap into Brians knowledge, you simple have to visit another forum to get in touch with him. Who knows, it might even expand our photographic horizon a bit! :)

If you're reading this Brian, I tried sending an email but it bounced. I would like to thank you for all your valuable posts on RFF and wish you and your loved ones a merry X-mas and a happy&healthy New Year!
