I am considering getting a version III Nocti but see there are both Canadian and German made models. Any difference?

None that I'm aware of and I'm quite happy with my Canadian version that has the black plastic clip-on lens hood. Works great!
What part of Jersey are you from? We could do a coffee & talk Leica!

Another NJ here. If I am not mistaken, the Noct f1 is a Canada design.

You are correct. After further reading, all of them were made in Canada.
I'm in Princeton. Would be nice to get a group together to talk about things photographic. I am a novice and still stuck in analog mode (B&W film/darkroom prints). All of the local workshops and clubs seem to be digital these days. (Should have been born 50 years earlier

I lived there for about seven years. Moved to Philly a couple years ago though.

I'm near Sayreville, so Princeton isn't really that far. Let's make this happen sometime soon! You are correct. After further reading, all of them were made in Canada.

Come to Philly!
(I'm applying for a job in Princeton, so I may actually be coming up there, or at least commuting.)
Sorry to digress from the thread!
I think that the best lenses Leica ever made were designed in Canada. The ones made there are absolute top quality as well. But as has been noted all the f/1 Noctilux are Canucks so it kind of doesn't matter.
Back to the digression.

Tim,
I have friends in the Philly area. One owns a studio in the historic area. Maybe when it warms up I'll take the Noctilux to Independence Hall!

Well, I'm pretty sure my Summilux 75 was designed in Germany. It was built in Canada, though, and I've no complaints in that regard. Of course some may disagree about the 75 Lux, but it is one of my favourites.I think that the best lenses Leica ever made were designed in Canada. Walter Mandler designed your 75 Summilux at Ernst Leitz Canada in the late 1970s. It was his favourite of the lenses he designed too.

I stand corrected. I knew Mandler designed it, but I didn't know he was working in Canada when he did. Thanks.Walter Mandler designed your 75 Summilux at Ernst Leitz Canada in the late 1970s. It was his favourite of the lenses he designed too.

This might not help but I have two Canadian lenses: a 35 and 50 Summicron. They are terrific.

Should be next to no difference, Canada or Poland, it's all made to Leica standards, so should always be more or less (+/- daily human errors) exactly the same.

I didn't know that there are Leica lenses made in Poland.

That'd be cool. I've never actually seen a Noctilux. Oh and it'd be cool to meet you too

I'm thinking after a few hours in the Historic District a nice shrimp cocktail & beer at Bookbinders would suit me just fine. Could even use the Noctilux there capturing images of the antique carriage steps lanyard holders, etc.
Oh Boy, I'm creating stuff in my head already! Can't wait to make it happen. Stay in touch!
Dave
