What a majestic new name. I'm proud to be meeting up with such an erudite freedom fighter like our own Wind-Thunder.

@Mike Your new Mohawk looks great in that mug shot as well! Mr. "Lubin", you're a hero as well!

I'm preparing some questions for Daisy regarding the time-space continuum, hopefully Robert will allow her a few free moments out of lip lock to have some intelligent conversation.
 
Great to see everyone, and congrats to the raffle winners of the Leica MP and the Marvelflex. I was really impressed with the Marvelflex. Great build quality, and it looks like they are hard to find! Off to ebay......

As to the nice weather (and Steve's photo), how long did my III sit facing the sun? Note to self: don't leave your camera behind when trying to get the waitress' number.

Hi All,
Sorry I missed seeing everyone today, but I was too bummed to make the train ride. Walking up to the train station this morning, I slipped on something that looked like sheep dung, and crash landed on the sidewalk. Totaled the new M9/Summilux combo.

Hope everyone made it back in one piece. Did you all have enough bail money between you?
 
Actually, Jamie, the Marvelflex was contributed by Randy, a new member of the group. Stunning build quality, really. And I understand the Shintaro black paint versions are commanding a small fortune on ebay.
 
Jamie - no bail needed this time. The beauty of taking the train is that we thwarted the roadblocks set up by the Davis Police on the perimeter of town and the CHP on I-80.

There were a couple of big moments during the day, however:

1) I missed out on winning the Marvelflex raffle by only one digit. bobkonos won it and flaunted his prize all afternoon. The build quality of that camera puts the Leica MP that I won to shame.

2) Once Darren showed up and Daisy laid her eyes on him it was over between us. On the return trip home he invited her to the Dining Car for a 'snack'. The bleating that ensued was so loud it was quite embarrassing. I hope the two of them are happy.
 
So sorry I had to miss this outing gents, last night's libations ended up as a painful reminder of my 31st year on this earth. Did someone really win an MP? Holy ****!
 
As always, terrific to get together yesterday in Davis. Thanks to the Left Coasters for making it. I just had a second espresso to get going as I was up late talking to prospective buyers in Hong Kong and Singapore about purchasing the Marvelflex for their collections. Negotiations are under way with a "Doctor Wu" who will fly out an agent to see this beauty in person.

Jamie: I now have a 50mmf2.5 Skopar again, thanks to Kent

Donald and Mike: Super Wide Conference (SWC) after Mike returns from Japan (wait 'til he sees those Japanese bovine beauties-he'll drop Daisy pronto); Robert should join us with his PM67, a muscular beast of a camera

Darren: glad you made it!

Steve and Randy: Canon Club meeting here soon? Maybe on the Saturday of Presidents Day weekend? Thanks to Steve for the camera picture. We gotta bring more stuff next time.

I it is clear that I was unhappy at having to sit next to Donald, and I faked the cell phone conversation rather than engage him with talk of his favorite subject-
"Mike, Scotland is so great because....."
"Mike, have you ever been to XXXX in Scotland?"
"Mike did you know that in Scotland......"

You were missed yesterday. Perhaps the next meeting will be at your house: Kent and Mike can take care of your Honey Do list and the rest of us will go out and have some photo phun.

In the "lunch arrives" photo, you can see where I had my attention. The couple behind her gave her a "10" and I agree. You all think I went home with Bingley, but I went back to Burgers and Brew...
 
I must say that the exuberance of Ming Taa when she saw me was somewhat awkward, but understandable. We first met when I toured in North Korea singing my tributes to The Monkeys. The music helped to open up this strictly closed society and I guess I'm somewhat of a deity there now.

Anyway....a great time and a fun location. Mike droned on a bit about his dalliances with the team mascot (a hayseed??) but his local knowledge certainly came in handy. I loved the sneaky little hidden spot he pointed out under the stairs where he used to watch co-eds scamper down from class.
