alright, a few weeks in.
1/ get spare batteries. 2 or 3 if you are shooting the x100 daily.
2/ keep touching that shutter release to keep it awake. it's already a force of habit for me but if it isn't for you, try it out.
3/ the files are stellar. almost too stellar in my opinion. almost. i like grain and it has been hard getting used to such clean files. i guess nik software to the rescue!
the camera has held up very well through the past weeks. a few downpours, some banging about and a night spent under a bridge. not that i care much but the finish seems well prepared for the world. not a scratch on it.
i have been messing about with some poppers and a 283 with a snoot. it has been one occasion where i have LOVED having the old lcd. i am a total luddite and do the old GN number math so the LCD is brilliant for fine tuning it.

I'm going to bump this post so that we can get a bit more real world x100 info out, rather than internet damnation and rumors. Plus I was simply enjoying the photographs.

Yeah the files are amazing. My 27" iMac screen at work was filled for a month with a classical facade from Bendigo, a grab shot after 5pm in winter while yelling at the children after seeing the American Dreams exhibition. The detail is extraordinary, the subtle gradations of failing light. I was wondering about trying medium format recently, but I only have one recent film shot on 35mm that comes close to the X100 output and that was on Ektar with a 90 Elmarit M. I'll be sticking with film of course for other reasons but I don't need resolution better than the X100.

Lovely colour.
I hope Fuji continues the line with a 28mm equiv however I suspect a 50mm (fast) would the next logical step. For me, a couple of these things in my bag and I am good to go.
Criticisms aside, in my humble opinion the x100 is one of the most potent reportage cameras I have ever used.
