Thanks! The simplicity of use is very attractive

My sister Dawn got me this nice Minolta X-700 for X-mas. I also got myself these lenses: Minolta MD 35-70mm f3.5 and 70-210mm f4.0.

Wow a Minolta love-a-thon. Can I ever forgive them for the faulty AF on the 9000? Those manuals do look sweet.

love the feel of the f2 and it's always tempting me to get a plain prism f to accompany it

Jack: The picture of that Retina Reflex S and lens are so evocative of days gone by; thank you for posing it.
Do you have any pictures taken by that set up?

Found this cute black body yesterday on a local fleamarket. The seller asked for 15 Euro; I dared to offer 12, we agreed at 13. We chatted a little and she surely knew that the OM-2 has a much higher value, but here in rural Bavaria it is very difficult to sell analogue gear on a flea market. Good for me!

Wow, Petronius, that's a great looking Olympus, and an even greater bargain price.

Thanks Alistair. No, the self timer mechanism is gummed up
and I'm intimidated about trying to fix it. It's too pretty. The lens is immaculate though. So, shamefully it sits in it's perfect never ready case never ready to shoot. :bang:

The only way a Minolta MC/MD lens will work on a Sony DSLR is via an adapter with a diopter lens. This will badly degrade the image quality.
I have heard of people modifiying the rear mount of the lens to adapt it but have seen no tutorials.. This hack is non-reversible so the lens won't work on the manual focus bodies afterward..

thanks colyn. did some googling and looks like adapting to Canon is same story, only with optical element is focus to infinity possible. what a pity

Take away the mirror though, and on a Sony NEX or m43 camera a simple adaptor will allow for the use of MD/MC lenses.
