Hi, I managed to pick up an immaculate Voigtlander Vito III recently only to discover there is an issue with the Synchro - Compur M+X shutter (Can't win them all hey). Obviously I'm keen to get this working and shooting film again. I'm thinking about ways to obtain a new shutter mechanism, does anyone know what other cameras the Synchro Compur M+X was used on?? Can't help you, but I'm interested that yours has the Synchro Compur. I thought this camera only came with the Compur Rapid.

You have taught me something! It's a nifty camera. One piece of advice: make sure the shutter is charged before you start to press the shutter, or the double exposure prevention will cause you to lose a frame. Trust me, I know.

I've got an Agfa Karat 36 that I'm in the process of cleaning all the green goo out of, and it has the Synchro-Compur MX. Made the mistake of taking some parts off to get the front piece off the camera, when all I had to do was take the entire shutter off first. But it's back together and working. Good thing I take photos of the process.
I found that unless the shutter cover is in place, the charging ring will lift up and disengage from a few things it's supposed to push one way or the other, thereby rendering any test firings mute, and making it look like the shutter is defective. But with the cover on, you can't watch the mechanism movements while it is operating. Not the best design. I think at the factory they had a custom made ring to use in place of the cover, so they could make adjustments to the timing.
Thanks for the tip, Nick. Mine looks like it will do that too, but will watch the levers with the top off to see what actually happens.

I'll amend this by saying you can watch the movements through the speed cam, but it limits your view, and you need to have a good grip in the shutter or it all goes kablooie. 4/2/12

Ha! You *******! I put a bid in on that camera but got left waaaay behind. Very jealous. Hope you can get the shutter sorted.

Ha, yes it went for more than I wanted to pay, it was like new except for the shutter issue, the trader part refunded me and I got the shutter fixed so in the end, very happy with this beautiful camera. Cheers Jason
