Hello! I just got such a winder, but without the original arm that triggers the shutter. Any idea where can I get one of those?

Chances to find one are pretty slim, so I'll try to make one miself...

Thank you!

Yep, just got it. I paid almost nothing, seems that the seller didn't know the value, along with a Leica Standard from 1935 without lens, a FED 3.5 / 50mm macro and a crappy Industar. But the camera is perfect and the Leica Motor is in a very good condition, but without the arm...

Motor's serial is 3375

Really nice find indeed!

Recently sold my FED-S kit with lenses, the 50/3.5 macro was the one prewar FED lens I never owned. Likely that is a non-standardized lens but since it's uncoupled anyway that does not exactly matter much. Bring a ruler to shoot it!

I'm pretty sure the Motor arm can be found with camera repair people. There's a list of Leica repair techs in the Leica M forum, it's a 'sticky' thread there. IIRC there was another member here (Vince Lupo? LeicaTom?) that was looking for one and eventually found it.

It seems that this Leica Standard was modified, or the spool is, to work with the motor. It draws the film, but I have to press the shutter from the camera. So it goes like this:

- press the lever from the motor, the film is pulled
- push the shutter button from the camera, the picture is taken.

Is not that confortably as with the original arm, but easier than manually pull the film

I have looked everywhere, no arm for sale... It seems that too many motors lost their original arms. So it seems that I have to make one. Maybe I'll do a DIY, I'm sure a lot of people are interested.

I never was looking for an arm, but I'd think if anyone would have one, it would likely be DAG. Very difficult to find them on their own, but it doesn't mean that the motor still can't be used on the body -- you just have two steps to take the picture and advance the film, instead of one when you use the arm.

I've had three MOOLY's over the years (including a black one for a IIIc), and they are great accessories. Can't imagine a journalist really using it seriously back in the 1930's though -- it takes so long to change the film with the MOOLY, that you'd likely miss all the important action while you're doing so. Fun piece though.
