I think the time to divorce your wife if you are unhappy is before you win any lottery, unless you have some pre-nepual agreement that protects you from having to divide and share your assets.

I'll use partial of the money to buy Leica's share and become one of the major shareholders, i will get Leica to make me any custom camera/lenses anytime.

Then the rest money will go to other investments and business.

spend 100% time shooting, traveling and learning to ship a boat.

I would never live through another winter again, mid Spring through mid Fall in each of the hemispheres for the rest of my days.

At first i was thinking with all the money I can pay people to scan film for me, but then with all the time on our hands, I could totally develop and scan myself! My gear list isn't so unobtainable or far off, but time and liberty, now that's luxury. 🙂
 
Frivolous answer; I'd single handedly fund the R&D for the M11 and put a rush on it. The M10 will have the shortest product life cycle ever.

Real answer.
I'd buy a lake house in upstate New York and an Aviat Husky, and my son and I will spend our weekends flying around the country camping and fishing.

I'd set aside a modest trust fund, enough that he'll never have to worry about rent or food, but not so much that he'd never have to work or can afford to be foolish.

I'd give some to family. My cousin could use some help, my half-sister and step father as well.

I'd go back to flight school and get my commercial rating. Then buy a Cessna Caravan Amphibian, and fly charter flights from NYC to Lake George.

I'd start a small newspaper, and put together the finest newsroom of the most talented, idealistic journalists I can find. Y'know, before working for an actual newspaper crushes your hopes and dreams of what good journalism can accomplish.

I actually haven't bought a ticket yet. But I have a $5 bill I'd been saving for it the past two days. I'll probably take a walk to the deli soon and give the fates a little help.
 
I'd buy my Dad a Leica M7 and a set of lenses. He always wanted one but was never able to afford. He's getting on now so it would be nice to be nice to get him something like that.
 
We have Lotto in New Zealand too and this week it's $24 million ...
NO idea what i would really do with it maybe give most of it away to family.
I have this dream of moving myself and the cat to Paris and spending the days wandering the streets taking photos and chasing butterflies.
Of course I need to go buy a ticket first!
 
But "seriously," looking at camera stuff. One of every current M lens, according to Tamarkin's price list (conveniently on one page) comes out to $86,495. Add one of each color M9-P, an M7 and an MP and you'd still be just over $112K, which is background noise if you happened to win the whole thing. Lump sum, post-taxes is roughly 30% of the list amount (a local paper did the calculations years ago, it'll vary depending on your state taxes), so $640M ends up being $192M after taxes. Scary, isn't it?
