I must try this again...

On my trip to India in September 2010 the big red Leitz logo on my M4-P body was lost. The joke "He lost his bindi in India" is a classic joke by now. E-bay searches give no results.

Question: Does anyone know a address or way to get a new one.
 
I lost the red dot off my 50mm Summicron in India 42 years ago.
Looked for a little ruby cabochon to replace it but no luck finding one the right size. Did find one of Persian turquoise that's a perfect fit so am now the owner of one of the exceedingly rare blue dot lenses.

In case a Leica fan spots the blue dot I usually spin a shaggy dog story about blue dot lenses being the most perfect examples of Leicas lens building skill. They are the rare flawless diamonds of optics, lenses that even by Leitz standards are exceptional. Unfortunately they are quite rare as only about one lens in a million is good enough to rate a blue dot. The rest of Leicas superb lenses have to make do with a red dot.

At this point I usually have a difficult time keeping a straight face and often break up in a fit of laughter. ;-)

Perhaps you need to get creative with a replacement bindi?

I ordered the red dot (it's actually a spare part) from Adeal in Australia, AU$ 5 (!). Plus another 5 for shipping to Holland. That was the cheapest I could find online.

Thats right Johan. I did order some logos from Leitax last year but they turned out to be the wrong ones. Think I gonna call the Dutch importer because emails with the same question are not answered.

I´m glad to know a person who has also a blue dot on his Leica lens. These examples are really very rare and precious.

Yeah, the M4-P red dot is larger and under where the right hand grips the camera body. Most folks need the standard M sized red dot when it goes missing. The M4-P one is the same red dot as on an R5 SLR.

As for my red dot, I replaced it with the Electro logo from my old un-fixable Yashica Electro 35 GTN.
