does anyone on here own this camera and can tell me, what aperture it uses in flash mode? i would guess it is fixed at something around f4 and then the flash exposes automatically depending on set iso (similar to the olympus xa) but i couldn't really find sufficient information on the net.
thanks in advance,
thomas.

and another question: does the flash have the same guide number as the c35 ef (14 in metres)?

Could have swore I had that info somewhere. I'll have to go through my Favorites to see if it was on a site somewhere.

I do not think EF3 has variable power flash. I also haven't seen contacts under distance scale so it's also not taking distance into equation.

ok, thanks. so you think it just gives full power flash output and the aperture is fixed for each iso speed? i think that's how it works in the konica pop - there you have a button that closes it down one more stop for close distances though...

If RFF's reading Japanese stumble upon here, they could look if something useful about flash (which I doubt) is mentioned in manual for EF3, I've uploaded it.

thanks but yeah, not really an info they'd put in a manual for a consumer camera. would just confuse people

I thinking I read somewhere that when the flash is turned on, the shutter defaults to 1/60. You may be able to backtrack a formula to figure out the guide number from there. Read a whole bunch of Japanese sites, hoping to find a flash distance guide (boy, are some of those translations hilarious), but no luck.

Just looked at the link from BTGC, and from what I can see, the usable flash distance is from 1 meter, to 5 meters. But it doesn't say at what ISO/ASA setting, so that makes it harder to come up with a GN. You could compare that to other cameras with the same flash range and published Guide Numbers.

The C35 has an "Auto Flash f/stop" setting... ie: You set the lens up like a GN Lens. AS you focus, the f/stop changes accordingly.
