Has anyone used Canon speedlite flash's or the older FD 199A with their Leica M9 ? I have an assignment where some off camera fill in flash could be advantageous. I sold my 5D's recently with the intention of eventually buying radio triggers for use with the M9 for the odd occasion when I need flash but have not done so yet - Murphy's law in action...

I would be very grateful for any advice from any members who use this combination.

kind regards

Michael

Hi Michael, I have the old Canon 155A speedlite, and it works beautifully on the M9's hot shoe. If using automatic, just set the aperture to the automatic range you are working with. I have to admit that I very rarely use flash when I use the M9. Best,

Thanks

I think that would be an ok for the 199a as they are of the same vintage. A while back can't remember where I read that some flashes can damage camera circuits anything that is Metz or Leica is ok many others ok too but what?

How about the Konica HX-18W?

How about the Konica HX-18W?

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but I do have a related question. I'd like to try the Konica HX-18W that came with, and works so nicely on my Hexar-RF. But of course, I'm afraid to mess up the electronics on the M9 (or on the M7).

Anyone here with user-based opinion?

Harry

I tried the 155A on the M9. It works, and did not mess up the electronics.
