What's prompted that Gav?
I shot a couple of rolls of HP5+ with my P67ii the other day and developed it today and realised it was the first film I've shot in months ... and it felt great!
This Freestyle thing is really good news IMO ... and the fact they have actually responded to feeback about their shipping charges to OS customers says a lot for them. I've always enjoyed dealing with Freestyle.![]()
I'm laying off the whole digital scene right now Keith - just want to go back to basics for a while and concentrate on my human skills rather than my computer skills. Just going to pick up a contax G2 soon and stay small, AF, and simple. Should pair well with my x100.
I envy that 67ii of yours though, I have a massive soft spot for those cameras. Might have to get a group buy from freestyle happening soon and test out these new shipping prices!

Buy in bulk. That's what freezers are for, although my wife keeps mentioning something about food.

The best camera is one that still works!

Sounds like a great plan Gav.
Yep ... that P67ii is something else! Can't believe how much I enjoyed putting two rolls of film through it last Friday.
Good idea about doing a Freestyle order for downunder.

... likes film again.

Oh yes ... I know that "problem" very well ...

Canadians should be sure that they will not get hit for a whopping customs brokerage fee with this option. Many couriers continue to charge outrageous fees for doing the import customs paperwork.

Here we can deny the service and do the import process ourselves. Of course in the same customs/postal outpost that the package was received in :bang: that is 200km away from me...

Bear in mind that there is a $150 limit to the order value. That's only a couple of 100 foot rolls of 35mm B&W film.

Wow! That means it's now cheaper for me to buy Ilford film from America and have it shipped back to the UK than to buy it straight from a British supplier down the road from where it's manufactured. Never mind food miles, what about film miles!

I ordered 50 rolls of Arista Premium just to see how long it will take to get to Hong Kong. FIMS to Hong Kong is $30 so add $144.50 for the film is $174.50. The shipping calculator at B&H brings up $46 via UPS for 50 rolls of Tri-X. That is not much more and I get 3 day delivery. Again the Freestyle advantage is the Arista Premium pricing and nothing else.

Seems that's good enough? Though I only order Arista Premium for 400 speed b&w these days, so I have no idea what Tri-X costs from B&H.

I agree with whoever said the real benefit of Freestyle is the cheap film (Arista and Legacy). Shipping to Canada is reasonable and is quite fast, myself being out west. Either way I would pay an extra $20 shipping to get my stuff a week or two faster.

Hate to drag this thread by from the depths, but what have Canadian experiences been like using the FIMS option? Any duties or worse, brokerage charges?
On a related note, Freestyle got itself a new website! Very slick.
