Sell the F or the F2?

I now have too many Nikons -- F, F2 -- both all black, both with DE plain prisms, the F is so called "Apollo" which is late in the run and has a couple of features of the F2 such as (key to me) the shorter throw film advance lever. Also F3HP, F100, FE, FM2n. Not to mention the S2 rangefinder. And I need money.

So I want to sell the F or the F2. Which is worth more these days? Which will I regret less? (They're both unmetered, working well, user cosmetics, not bad at all but certainly not pristine).

I'd love to read some opinions on this.

Many thanks.

If it were me, I'd sell the F100 and FM2n. That way you'd have at least one body with an auto exposure mode (FE). I don't think I could bear to part with an unmetered black F or F2. Plus the value of the F100 is only going down, the collectors will always be after the F.

Yep, collectors love F cameras. Even / especially ones with patina.

Second favourite is the F2.

Then there is the rest.

A plain black prism for a Nikon F or F2 is a serious chunk of change by itself.

In your shoes I would part with the FE, the F100 and the FM2n, in that order.

I was going to post a picture of my lovelies, grabbed from Flickr, but the way I used to do this doesn't seem to work anymore: hit the chain link icon, grab the html code from Flickr, insert in the dialogue box here and hit ok. Does anyone know a different way to do this, in particular, a successful way to do it? I had the same problem yesterday in another thread.

I love 'em both but if I had to keep only one the F2 would win out. Much better shutter position (for me) and far easier loading.

Both terrific, no wrong decision to be made :)

All you F100 assassins -- I don't get it. It's a magnificent camera. There can be no useful reason -- only aesthetic, I guess, for holding onto both the F and the F2 and getting rid of the F100, which is technologically incomporable to any other camera I own except the D700. The FE and FM2N I can see, but not the F100. Anyway for now, for no rational reason, I want to hold on to the FE and FM2n though I can imagine selling them later. In a given mood that size can be a real pleasure. Also they won't raise that much money.

Another topic of interest however: it is not unusual to see those DE-1 prisms sell for more than I paid and some still pay for the camera and same prism together. What's up with that?

Trade the F off to me, I love them. I've got lots of stuff, let me know what you might be interested in.

He's looking to raise cash. Please, let's keep the commerce of buying and selling out of the discussion threads. There are classified ads for this purpose. Want ot Buy, and Want to Trade ads are free! Offers to buy and sell are not permitted in discussion threads. If you must respond to something along these lines, do it by PM.

Sell the one that is EASIER to find, in case you want another one. Nice black F's are hard to find, and when you do find them, they are expensive.

I'd sell 'em all but one (the SLR's). Pick one body that will work w/ your lenses. For me, I need a high point finder for my glasses (or a diopter), and the body w/ the highest shutter speeds for shooting at wide apertures in bright light. Split prism focus screen and AE and AE lock are desirable, but not deal killers if that isn't possible. Why make things complicated? The more cameras I have, the worse my photography goes.

Flickr has changed. Now, type
at the end.

Oh, yeah, you might have a bunch of lenses. The F and F2 can take non-AI lenses. Some of the others can't. You don't want to orphan a bunch of your lenses.
