I walked up and down 5th Ave between 49th and 57th on Easter Sunday
taking photos of something I had never seen before in my life. The hat
parade was kind of amazing. Everything from conservative and traditional
to the most outlandish and irreverent hats or costumes were to be seen.
Here's the whole Hat Parade Album.

Great shots, Phil. I was there too, although I didn't stay very long. You can see some of my shots here:

Great shots! I wonder if I ran into you. I probably saw about 15 Leicas that day.
RFFer "Lord Nikon" was also there shooting with me.

Phil, we must certainly have passed each other, as I caught this fellow not more than half a block from where you did. What camera were you carrying?

Rob,
I was using an M9 mainly but I also had an M4-P with me. I did notice a bunch of Leicas out there and got photos of two guys shooting with them in case you're curious.
Those are some awesome photos there, by the way!

Phil, your shots are great. I saw lots of Leica gear at the parade, but nary an M9. I saw a goggled M3 with a 35 cron and a very cool hood ... an M8 ... a Zeiss Ikon ... a Mamiya 7 ... and this very brassy Pentax...
I asked the kid carrying this how he got it so brassed. His answer? "It's my dad's." Go figure.
