Georgia Look out, Pensacola!

One suggestion: stop at the Florida welcome station as you cross the state line. Get a free Florida road map.
When you are returning, stop at the Georgia welcome station and get you free Georgia road map.
And, if you cut through the corner of Alabama..................

Apopka is not that far from South Beach is it, Bob?

I have an appointment this Monday with an administrator at tnat museum to discuss loaning to them my WWII camera that may have been used to take photos of Hiroshima.

Hmmm....hope you have it next weekend though...that would be a nice camera to see and photograph.:)

The camera is in large boxes rghit now. Maybe by next week they will reassemble it, but I don't know how much time it will take.

Wish I was there to visit three pals I have yet to meet. Sending some California sunshine and vibe your way, with a little magic Leica dust as well. How about a photo of the three you ?

Thank you. Sunshine wishes are always welcome!

We need one day to have a South Beach RFF get-together.
My wife may not appreciate me going there, though.

Have a good trip. Cuba sounds like a great place to explore photographically.

Raid: you know a University Professor can travel to Cuba without prior authorization if for "academic research". The official criteria is "Research requires a full work schedule of noncommercial, academic research that has a substantial likelihood of public dissemination and is in the traveler’s professional area." The amount of time you actually spend doing research there is between you and your conscience. There is no requirement or even a provision for you to subsequently identify what you actually did in Cuba.

It looks it will be me and Dave and his wife for a Pensacola RFF Meeting.
We will meet at 8am CST on Saturday morning.

I took Lina with me to meet up with Dave. We had a light breakfast at Bagelhead, overlooking tne 3 mile by bridge. Then we drove to Joe Patti's Sesfood Store, and we stayed there a little, taking some photos of fishing boats. This was followed by a scenic drive along Pencola Beach to Fort Pickns. We saw my other daughter, Danea, there as she was camping with the Girls Scouts at Fort Pickens.

I enjoyed meeting Dave. Hopefully, we will have more meetings.

Here are two snapshots from my phone.
Lina took the photo of Dave and me.

Dave and I also used film cameras, but photos will not be immediately posted here.

I had with me a Leica M6 with a 75mm 1.4 Summilux, plus a Hexar RF with a 28mm 2.8 Rokkor, and in a pouch, a 50mm Rigid Summicron.

Well folks, I'm really, really sorry so many couldn't make it to the Pensacola meeting. I had planned for months to show up, if I could. Not sure what others specific conflicts were but mine was triple heart bypass surgery on April 19. How am I doing? So far so good! Anyway, my wife and I get to Ft. Walton Beach several times a year as we have close friends there. As often as I can, on one day while the lady folks are busy, I drive over to Pensacola. I like to check out the parks, the old section of town, the pawn shops, etc.
Hopefully, another meeting will be scheduled in Pensacola that a lot more of us can attend.

Thanks for the thoughts. Every day I'm getting better!

Spav, just got hold of a computer in a loooong time and I hate to hear of your surgery. Man, that has to be tough but you sound good (if "sound" is an appropriate word in a post). We will have many more opportunities in the future.

Believe me, meeting and spending time with RFF members like Raid and Paul is fulfilling and very rewarding. Raid was the consummate host and his daughter is just as cute as she could possibly be!

Thank you Raid for everything! It was an honor to meet you and Lina and I enjoyed it very much!:) Monday we were able to take a trip from Navarre for a little tour but we could not stop along the way, we just enjoyed the scenic route.

Yesterday, well, I almost bought the farm on the bike path when a kid turned left across the traffic lane and into the bike path with me crossing the street at the time! But, good peripheral vision, good brakes and an emergency sideways stop was sent from above as I was already busy with a pickup truck almost not stopping before crossing the path on my left. Whew!

Just returned home today with no incidents driving back and the trip worked very well for my bride other than overworking her leg and back muscles which kept her in bed over the weekend. Friday begins a long and tortured road through testing and diagnostics.

Now about that South Beach/Miami thing.... :p
