I predict in about 100 years, all our Solms stamped/engraved Leica's will fetch collector premiums.

But will an engraved brass Wetzler M5 be worth anything? Grinning.

I think you are absolutely right. I would just prefer not to have to wait quite that long to collect on it.

The current plant in Solms is a barracks-like contruction... After seeing the pictures of the new buildings something is telling me that the $7000 cameras can be part of history soon.. ($$$$$!!!)

More angels fit on an M9 top plate than on an anniversary M4-P top plate (Canada). So I've got that going for me.

The best camera is one that still works!
So what? ... a group of loonys are going to bury them all so they can be dug up in the future? Someone will be busy CLA'ing that lot ... if they can remember where they buried them!

Not as much as a Nikon rangefinder that says "Made in Occupied Japan". You know those Nikons are far better than Leicas, even when it comes to being collectible.

I predict in about 100 years, all our Solms stamped/engraved Leica's will fetch collector premiums.
However, in about 200 years they will be less collectable and valuable than any point and shoot compact - museums will doubtlessly need a display piece of the latter, and while a fair number of Leicas will have survived, through being in collection storage for centuries, almost every point-and-shoot that did not vanish in the recycling grinder will have succumbed to plastics rot...
