u used a canon s90? makes me think to use my g11, which has the same sensor, maybe a bit more again...

Jeff, love these shots. You have posted quite a few as Peter said but I like every one. Don't know what PP you've done but I'm impressed.

I am a huge advocate of self editing. I really try not to post junk for others to view! That said, I realized I had a bunch of P&S shots I had never posted so I dumped all of my favorites in one thread. They are not a set, nor are they a coherent body of work. The only common thing is that they are P&S and have not been posted before. Maybe I should not have done that, but this isn't a gallery show either!
Anyways, yes these were all Canon S90 which I have since passed on to my Mom so she can take pictures of her quilts 🙂
I am really thinking seriously about a Ricoh GRD IV, and as such I have been revisiting my P&S stuff as part of my decision. When I got rid of the S90, I replaced it with an X100. However, I am finding I just don't take the X with me everywhere like I did with the little Canon. It's just a little too large for a pocket. I also find I miss the huge dof advantages of the little sensor. Some of the shots above would not work the way I want with narrow dof. I also have a wide angle hole to fill. I currently don't have wider than 35 equivalent available.

PP: raw capture cooked in Lightroom. I don't have a formula or presets. I just work them until I get what I like. The common theme seems to be that I search for a certain highlight curve. I almost always shoot in high contrast light. The thing I'm chasing is a certain type of light. I just happen to live where there is nothingness, so the subject matter is thus.

The s90 is great. Mine's getting on in age unfortunately. I hear rumors that the new s100 isn't as sharp as the s90 or 95 because the sensor is different and more megapixels are jammed into it. Can anyone confirm this?

Love the subject matter - wanted to photograph just those same things. I might not have produced such high contrast results, but that's just me. Oh! I would have been taking quite a lot in colour too, but again that's me!

The colour from this camera does not impress me. I find it to be 'thin' even when saturation is boosted. Canon colour also tends too warm, and it does funny things to the sky - gives a teal look that I don't like. This is part of why the camera and I parted ways.
