Funny to see M8 shutters for sale, but what about an M7.2 with 1/8000?

It might be a very intriguing combination. It would allow using the super fast lenses in daylight, without ND filters.

It should have happened MANY years ago. The M7 is state of the art for Leica film cameras, but it's still light years away from other cameras in terms of features. Look how long it took to get an M camera w/ just AE! Oh I know, Leica is a small company, the build quality is so good, etc. But none of this interests me. I just want a camera that will do what I need it to do. Interesting concept.

And a viewfinder that gets knocked out of whack by looking at it. Based on my very small sample size of having owned 2 Hexars, the camera is a POS.

Love my AF though,

I have thrown my Hexar around in my handbag in the luggage of cars, around my neck on bumpy rides on my bicycle and out at sea for several months, a little over a year. NOTHING has happened. What was it you were saying?

Now my Leicas though... stuck shutter, shutter bounce, shutter is as accurate as the mayan callender for the apocalypse etc, viewfinder TINY and often get white-outs on the rangefinder patch.

None of which has ever happned with my Hexar RF

You were saying?

With reciprocity failure as a factor for most all films at speeds above 1/2000 I don't think having 1/8000 would actually benefit anyone. Most films would be underexposed.

I read somewhere that it only becomes a problem at 1/10,000 and faster, and 1 second and slower.

I like the option of 1/8000 with my F6 I must admit and have always wondered why these types of shutters never made it to rangefinders ... the Hexar is the closest with 1/4000 and I used it fairly regularly when I had one.

Interesting to hear the Hexar RF described as a POS. I bought mine as a bit of a beater and had absolutely no problems with it.

And I still think about Sherry Krauter's comment that in her opinion the M7 is a disaster waitng to happen!

Wow, 1/8000 sec? I rarely ever shoot above 1/250 sec. I don't even know what the top speed on my M7 is without looking.

Do you shoot ISO 400 film, pushed to 3200, in daylight that you need shutter speeds like 1/8000?

Not trying to sound sarcastic, just don't understand why you need those type of speeds with film?
