That's a good point and one of the reasons I like my Domke. It's only a couple of years old, hasn't really had a lot of use and now looks like something from an op shop! :p
 
Joe... come on, now! You need to feed the lazy man inside you!! A lazy man would NOT carry around all that gear. ONE Rd1 body, ONE lens, and ONE good book. Head out on the town and you're ready for a day of comfortable shooting with no stress about what rig to use. And you've got the book for when you stop at the local ale house for a break. Perfect... trust me on this, Joe for I AM a wild and lazy guy! :)

I almost always carry 1 camera and 2 lenses except on a shooting expedition where I may bring max of 2 cameras and 3 lenses. Nowadays, my daily drive to and from the office will just be a P&Sl GRDIV and DLux 5 on a small clone . samsonite messenger bagI still have many bags in the closet (leftover from DSLR days) but I now alternately use, Domke J803, F5Xb, F3, F2 and a Hadley Pro but also still on the lookout for other bags. I regularly monitor Joe's never ending quest for the "perfect one" and had some fun looking at the

My daily bag a clone Samsonite with a Domke gripper strap. Fits my OMd with lens attached and an extra lens. Oftentimes, I load it with a GRD4 and a Dlux5. An iPad also fits perfectly at the back pocket with zipper. 9.5"W x 10.5"H x 3.5"D

i often leave the bag in the car trunk and swing the cameras over my shoulder...one or 2 cameras with lenses attached and a few spare batteries in my pocket (we're talking the rd1 here). but this is usually in better weather...winter and i like a bag...snow etc.

actually, the tamrac rally 5 is a pretty good bag but a bit pedestrian. it holds my entire rf kit plus and does it effortlessly and easily...plus it's easy to actually use. i just loaded it with my gear to remind myself of it's versatility and will be carrying it tomorrow and for the weekend, at least.
 
if i rid myself of the think tank bags it might be easier on my poor psyche...they look so nice and feel great...just poorly sized and i hate those inside small pockets on each end!!

Yes, I have looked at every image, on all 62 pages, of your flickr account, which is how I know that since the beginning of 2005, you have used at least 14 different cameras, 36 different lenses (29 of which were m or ltm mount), and no telling how many different straps, grips, cases, and bags. I also noticed that your best stuff was from before you started mentioning the camera and lens combination you used in the title of the image, and I noticed that about a full half of your images just stick the subject smack dab in the center of the picture plane. Of the remaining half, you seem to have a serious preference for the bottom left hand corner of the picture plane. Your black and white work is generally more interesting than your color work. You tend to underexpose by about half a stop to a stop when using black and white, and overexpose by about half a stop with color, at least that is how it looks on my monitor.

No one really gives a **** about camera bags, we jump into these threads for the social interaction and a chance to be totally frivolous without guilt for a change.

if you want khaki, take one of your old pairs of chinos, cut off a leg and sew the cuff closed. voila! a khaki bag.
or you could use the whole pair, and sew both cuffs closed. there ya go, a bag suitable for two dslrs, with lenses mounted, no matter how long ... :)
 
I have a Domke F-5XB which takes a Zeiss Ikon, an R-D1 and three lenses together with a few films and batteries and a small light meter. Everything fits nicely and the bag is easy to carry, thanks to the good shoulder strap. The only "adjustment" to the bag - I cut off the red Domke logo, Now it is all black.

One curious aspect of the whole camera bag obsession is how few unused bags show up in the classifies. It seems many of us have at least a bag or two sitting around, never to see action, that might be appealing enough for someone else to purchase.

Maybe we can establish a loaner program between the bag-a-holics? :angel:
 
I'm addicted to bag threads!
It fascinate me to no end that there are that many types of bags out there. All looks good for different purposes.

And in bag threads I get to see how people arrange stuff neatly. Because in real life, I stuff stuff in my Domke F2 without thinking.

But I never *want* to buy another bag, just like I never *want* to buy another Leica.
Now that's laziness.
