I'm an asian kid from Markham, so I often find myself in Pacific Mall (Steeles and Kennedy). Aden camera there has quite a bit of Leica stock. I was there this weekend, they had a few M9s and M9-Ps for $7900 and $8900 I believe. I know they have a Noctilux in stock, and I'm quite sure I saw a 35 lux. I'm sure they have other lenses, but they usually hide them. They have the special edition black Fuji X100 as well. The boss there seems to be a collector, with his M6 and M7 and chrome Bronica ETRsi in the store window.

If you want leica stuff and can put up with asian service (rather snappy and almost somewhat elitist) then Aden's not a bad choice.

Photocreative in missasauga has the m9 and m9p cheaper (6979.99 and 7979.99) Plus I have been emailing the guy there and he is rather prompt at giving responses. Now im just trying to figure out more about the leasing program. they don't seem to tell you much unless you've already signed one.

A few years later, Gerry Smith had a look at my 40mm lens, which had remained untouched by mechanics throughout this episode, and he determined that it was out of collimation. Incorrect shim inside it, or something. He was surprised I was getting any correctly-focused pictures at all with it. Fixed that for me, and perfectly.

So: Body out of whack, lens out of whack, and insistence that two different part numbers are the same hood? I'd get out of Leica before I'd deal with Setadel again.

Sounds like TO has plenty of Leica goods showered throughout... I was in Paris a few weeks ago and went into Maison de Leica, where unless you're in a suit waving beaucoup bucks they don't acknowledge you much.

Will there be a meet up in Toronto this year?

Hmm. That's the way I used to feel going into Vistek 🙂

Being from Toronto, you might like the story of Ronnie Hawkins buying his Rolls Royce, which your tale of Maison de Leica led me to recall:

"The stories were outrageous and often true, one of the more famous being about the time he bought his Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud. He walked into the dealership in Toronto dressed in jeans, cowboy boots, a windbreaker, and with hair to his shoulders. He walked up to the car and kicked the tires. The sales, man was horrified. "How much?" asked Hawkins. "I doubt if you can afford it," the salesman sniffed. "This RR on the front here, guess that stands for Rock 'n' Roll, right?" The salesman nearly collapsed. "Is that dashboard real wood?" Hawkins asked. "Of course it's real wood," snapped the salesman. "Is there a termite warranty?" asked Hawkins. The salesman was edging him toward the door. The last Leica gathering I attended here in Toronto, wound up costing some of us dearly. The fancy free with the most Leica gear disappeared when the check arrived! So don't wonder if there is No Leica store here.. We had to pool in to help the organizer. Count me out unless at McDonald and each pays his own.

Haha that story is great and inspiring...I dont know any rangefider enthusiast in TO, I moved here about a year ago from New York. For the meet up I'm thinking couple o'beers not a birthday party. I would assume everyone paid their own. Plus I don't own any Leica gear.(yet) I'm just a painter with photo as a hobby.
 
I don't know which gathering leicapixie is referring to. I do now how have a Leica, but most of the gatherings I attended were when I had my lowly 🙂 Epson. People had a variety of cameras, including Bessas and Kievs etc. Keep following RFF; maybe we can have a summer meet-up.
 
Interesting! Summer meet up would be good, I come back from Europe before July. Let's get this ball rolling 😉

That's truly unfortunate and would burn my britches something royally as well. Out them. or at least pm me 😉

+1 from me too Jack. I have no recollection of a "Leica meet up" started by RFF or anyone else in Toronto. Perhaps another city?
 
I can get the ball rolling - but we usually don't have it just as a "leica" meet up. I know that some folks want to do one of two things:
1) get together and meet and chat and share stories over a beer or some food - while having their cameras in tow
2) go out and shoot.

I've said it before that I'm not much for the "group" shoot dynamic - there's something unnerving about a bunch of folks (10-20) wandering the street shooting the same things/people.
BUT
maybe what we can do is "split up" into smaller groups - for those wanting to do this - maybe after lunch?

I usually like the beer/food/chat and compare stories thing. Maybe we can bring a print or two to "show and tell"?

p.s. Every RFF meet up I've been to here has never had a situation where people leave the bill short. If anything, I've seen a lot of separate cheques/checks that way no one pays for anything they "don't" want and people are responsible for what they eat/drink.
 
The "usual suspects" here know that I won't have a Leica in tow ... something a bit larger, this time. 😀

My only "no go" date so far is June 23, which is the day of my annual garden party (which I fully expect Jan and Gene to attend this year!), other than that my calendar is pretty open until the last week in August through Labour Day.
 
July 21 anyone?
I'm away till June 16.
Earl's party is on the 23rd.
Jack's not around till July 4.

Perhaps the 21st may be good?

I generally don't know what I'm doing, and that applies to July. The 21st is therefore a likely "probably" for me. Sounds like a good date too, so as long as there's general agreement, can we put that on the calendar?

I have made it to most of the meet ups in the last 5 or so years, and have yet to see anyone skip out on the bill.

We are inclusive; bring any camera you want to carry. I once brought my Mamiya 220, and suspect that's smaller than what Earl has in mind.
