My first summicron arrived in the mail yesterday.
glass pristine, barrel clean, some internal haze but no biggie....
loving the engineering, weight, ergonomics first test roll looks fine and i've never had so many tones! lovely.
But... i can see a light ring around the edge of the internal elements that looks like something. Is it a nothing-it's-normal something, or a send-the-lens-back something? I'm sure I've seen other pics of rigid summicrons with this, but also sure i've seen pics without.
I'm confused. Maybe it's buyers remorse and I should just relax.

Your pic is a little blurry, but it looks like there are little spots on the inside surface of the metal barrel. Look really closely. If that's the case, I certainly hope that's benign (because I've got it too in my collapsible
). As long as it's distinctly only on the edge and not furry / has filigree roots, I wouldn't worry.

it's the ring of light all around where the glass elements are supported that piqued my interest. It's quite visible from an angle, but not at all looking straight. To my naive eye i'd say it's where one of the internal element lens meets the barrel, on the actual join. It's all the way round, so either, it's meant to be like that, or there's a problem all the way round.
in my hasty pic, it's visible from 8 o'clock up to 2 o'clock. I've read about separation and stuff and... sigh... maybe i shouldn't.
Results from my first roll are just fine, a little flare when i shoot direct into a light source but that's to be expected. Sharp even at f2, and a delight.
I'll stop worrying and keep on shooting!
tmax100, no filter, some drying marks on the neg. Never had so many mid-tones!

The D.R. will flare like a witch if I'm not careful. I expect the Rigid will do the same. Be awre of this and compensate. Otherwise, a fine lens for sure.
