Is it just me, or are there more used M9's for sale than ever before?

Perhaps it's the coming Mayan apocalypse. Or perhaps people are preparing for the arrival of the Monochrom.

It's entirely subjective (I haven't been keeping records for the past year) but it seems every time I look at the classifieds, there are more and more M9's appearing.

Has any one else noticed this phenomenon?

Yes, I think that every time I look at the classifieds...not sure why. Perhaps the technology of other cameras--in particular the Fujis, but also the NEXs, the OM-D, etc--has surpassed the M9 to the point that people would rather sell their used M9, get a new X-Pro 1 or OM-D and then take a long trip overseas.

Makes sense to me.

The camera's been around for a while. There's a lot of them out in the world (compared to when it was very new) so naturally there will be more on the used market.

Sold mine because I cannot keep up with Leica's digital M pricing and decided to move on from the limitations in close-up focusing.

There was another recent thread on this started by back alley called so many m9s for sale....

I think people just want to unload them before the M10 (or whatever) is announced, since they'll likely suffer a huge price decline once that occurs. On the other hand, the theory about people replacing them with more modestly priced high performing gear, like the X-Pro 1, has some merit too.

Even good cars come onto the market second hand in time. Citroen C6s second hand in Australia have only become a regular thing recently. There are a lot of M9s out there now, as was said earlier.

Wasn't aware there were other threads about this topic already -- thanks for the head's-up.

It seems several of us have noticed this influx of M9's on the market.

IMHO, I find is a tad unusual. I'm a regular visitor of the RFF classifieds. In the past 18 months, M9's have shown up only occasionally. Now it seems there's 2-3 listed in any particular week.

On top of that, some of them are being listed at seemingly rock-bottom prices.
