I know an IUF00 fits the 90mm f/2.8 Tele-Elmarit, but they are hard to find. My Tele-Elmarit is a Canadian model with 39mm filter. Are there other good lens hoods that fits this lens without blocking the viewfinder?

EDIT: I must have been searching incorrectly on ebay. I now find a bunch of these IUFOO hoods. They are also known as part # 12575, perhaps a later designation. They are fairly expensive, but I'll just watch for a good one to come along at a decent price.

Hi - I also have the Canadian "fat" Tele-Elmarit with the Leica hood, 12575. Very fast to clip on and off the lens and barely any intrusion into the 90mm framelines on my M2. One nice plus is the hood can be reversed and stored on the lens, saving quite a bit of space in the bag. If you can find the Leitz cap 14033, this goes on the rear of the hood to protect the lens.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the lens cap part number, Jim. I'll look for a set with hood and cap. That does seem an ideal combo for carrying in a camera bag.

I've used the screw-in hood from heavystar on eBay which is a similar shape to the #12575 but much cheaper. However, it does make the lens a bit bigger in the bag and also is a nuisance changing filters. I'm now using a collapsible rubber hood from B&W which is more compact to store and has an internal filter thread.

cheers,
clay

My T-E came with hood #12575 and it works really well. It also works on my 135/4 Tele-Elmar and reverses over the barrels of both lenses to make a nice small travel package. Leitz also made a plastic hood cap #14033 which sits on the screw end of the hood when it's reversed over the barrel.
