?? Fair price on Rolleiflex 2.8 Xenotar D??

I'm trying to decide whether to sell my Rolleiflex 2.8 D. I've had it twenty years or so and have a beater case that wasn't a D case but have adapted it, a aftermarket but looks exactly like a Rollei lens hood, Rolleifix and original satin finish metal lens caps. The camera works fine except the lock on the shutter release. Glass is perfect and everything works fine except the mentioned. Leather is all there but could use a new skin. I would say it's a user but no dents or abuse. I think from the SN it was made in 1955.

Lens? Has any maintenance been performed over the years? EVS system, and if so can it be disengaged?

I'd suggest a search on Ebay- advanced search/completed sales.

My rough guess would be $500- 700 from what you describe, with no maintenance over the years. Sounds like a good user, as you say, but will fall short of top dollar for this model.

I sold a very good condition user f2.8 D 1956 with planar lens last year for $1000 here on the forum.
It had just returned from a Karl Ehler CLA 6months prior and had a fresh Maxwell brightscreen.
Given the CLA and screen cost at just over $500.... The camera before work was worth (your math goes here).

Glws. Personally I wish I had kept my camera and in fact bought another earlier this year.

WOW! Around $500! Amazing!!!

I checked ebay and didn't find one in the archive. Looked at several dealers and didn't find one either. A few 2.8F models but those really bring the big bucks. I've had it so long I don't remember what I paid. This is about the fourth one I've owned in the past forty five years. I do love them but don't expect to do much film in the future. If I do I still have my Hasselblads.

EVS disengages with ease. There's a button in the center of one of the dials that you just have to press and turn with a finger tip. This is one of the great features of this model.

Ir's hasn't had a CLA since I've owned it but the shutter seems on the money even at low speeds and everything works smoothly. It has a split image focusing screen too. No built in meter. Most of those are DOA at this point anyway.

Think I'll put it on the sell site tomorrow.

By Sell site, do you mean Ebay? If so, be careful. Sometimes things go for a good price, sometimes not. And with Rolleis, you are going to be hitting sharks and collector-types. Meaning that you could get it returned again and again as people find a scratch, etc. You could get $800, you could get $300. And one thing I notice is that people with a low number of feedback- under 200 maybe?- almost always get less money for Rolleis than those with higher numbers of feedback.

There are early Ds with the EVS system that can't be disengaged. I think you need to move one dial to the very end to make changes? This is why I asked. Recognized by the lack of a racetrack oval and black grooves on the aperture dial face.

If you want a clean, honest sale, try the classifieds here. Or APUG.

Yes sell it here. If it works as well as you describe you could safely ask more than $500.
Having a fresh CLA adds value. Not needing to have one has a value as well. Don't discount tge price too much if all is well with functions. Again good luck !

Not long ago I bought a Planar 2.8D that looks practically mint and had an almost mint original case, with a deteriorating strap; I paid $500. Slow speeds were off, so I had it CLA'd by Paul Ebel and he installed a Maxwell screen, and now it is very nice. NAd I figure I could get my money back if I sold it.
