Hello everyone!
I've got my first Leica, an M3 DS ex condition from KEH.
I had an Industar 26 M and an Industar 50 collapsible so I ordered an adapter from Fedka. first of all the I-50 doesn't fit because the focus lever cant go past the lens release button shield of the m3.
I guess I'll be shooing with the I-26 for now but when I focus to infinity the focus is off by maybe two millimeters.
any suggestions?
Thanks

You can easily unscrew the infinity lock or file down the adapter ring.first of all the I-50 doesn't fit because the focus lever cant go past the lens release button shield of the m3.
It's not supposed to focus right since the flange distance on Leica / USSR is different. Then again; the adapter might be wrong thickness or the camera might be in need of adjustment.I guess I'll be shooing with the I-26 for now but when I focus to infinity the focus is off by maybe two millimeters.
Many variables to be considered with lenses from USSR and Chinese adapters

I've decided to recalibrate the rangefinder, I searched and found the repair PDF, so far I have fixed the infinity focus but the 1 meter is off, I'm having a hard time turning the 1 meter screw. I don't want to damage it.

What makes you think that the RF needed to be recalibrated?

Because the lens worked fine when I had my fed 2 calibrated for it. What else could it be?

You really need to read this before you start playing around with the innards of your M3:

Long story short is that Russian lenses are not 100% compatible with (genuine) Leica mounts.

calibrating M for FSU-lens should be last option. sounds like something is going horribly wrong here...

FSU lenses aren't fully compatible with Leica bodies. You cannot get both 1m and infinity to get a match with the RF. How did you do the calibration, and do you have a link to the repair PDF that you refer to?

I agree. Don't alter the M3. Buy yourself a lens that is already compatible with thwe M3, nlikle a collapsible Summicron, or a CV lens, or Canon, etc..

I suppose you all are right, I only turned the infinity adjustment, I haven't touched anything else. I emailed David Yau who leaves here in Toronto. I apreciate everyones advice and concern, it's good to know I can receive help when I need it. Thanks.
