My photography group is having an exhibit of photos in our local City Hall in January and February. The photos will also be for sale should anyone be interested in purchasing them. I am having trouble deciding which underwater image I'd like to submit. I'd appreciate it if you could let me know which image appeals to you more and which one you would buy, if funds were no object.

The first is a wide angle image and includes a diver in the background:

The second image is a macro image taken of one critter:

Both were taken in Indonesia last fall. I know which one I'm leaning towards but would appreciate the input of the good folks at RFF.

Thanks!

Ellen

I like 'em both, but then I'm an underwater fan. The one with the diver will have more interest because it's got a human in it. Plus it has a lot of "pop" that the fish-face lacks.

I think they are both very nice pictures but if I was buying one my thought would be that I would also be displaying it somewhere...Now, if I put it up for all the world to see, most folks would ask if that was me in the shot and then I'd have to explain the whole situation of "No, it's not...blah blah blah..."
Now, if I buy and display the Fish-Face I won't get that question but might be asked if I took the picture...now if someone knows me at all they would know that I DO NOT SWIM IN SALT WATER...
I would buy the Fish-Face photo because it's a less personal picture...if you know what I mean...

Photographically, the first one is more interesting - the second photo might appeal to some biologist perhaps...

No 2 for me.
Where in Indonesia was this, Ellen?

This was in Sulawesi Island in Indonesia.

I was on a liveaboard dive boat for a week and the boat went around the northern tip of Sulawesi Island.

Here's a link which gives information about the trip. Halfway down the page under Cruise Details is a map which shows exactly where the boat went.

This was my big adventure trip for 2011 :D
