That's what I keep thinking. I have Elmar 50/3.5 lust, but don't really want a Barnack. While I'm at it I could get a 90/4 Elmar for the M3...

I own a 35/1.8 Nikkor in LTM. With an adapter it goes on a Wetzlar M6, but the Barnack I use it on is a 1938 black paint Leica II with chrome knobs.

Either is a cool camera.

M3 is the best if you plan to shoot 50, 90, and 135mm.

M2 is the best if you plan to shoot 35, 50, 90, or if you wear eyeglasses.

M2 is the best for me for both reasons.

A nice alternative or addition to a Barnack Leica is a bottom loading Canon from the II or IV series.
Their build quaility is almost Leica standard. They have also a very quite cloth shutter and a very precise shutter release with a clearly defined pressure point.

I don't know. I typically need a meter so the best Barnack for me is my M6ttl with adapter. Still I really like my II as it is because it's so tiny, esp with the Summitar which I really like. It's so light i can barely feel it on my shoulder. Plus I love operating all the buttons and peering into the finders.

It's a tough call. If I HAD to choose one to sell it'd be the II but I'm veeeery happy I don't have to make that choice!
