My son and his Fiancée plan to marry next summer in New York. As they work out all the details, I thought I could help in their search for a wedding photographer. They expect about 200 guests, and the venue is likely to be in the city.
I believe they would prefer a more creative, personal approach to their wedding photography, rather than something big, glitzy, and obviously commercial.
Since RFF has so many talented photographers, some of whom are familiar with the NY market, I thought I would put out some feelers here.
I am looking forward to some ideas and leads.

The photog for my wedding, based out of Brooklyn I think.. www.daverobbinsphotography.com
Easy going, a little on the expensive side, the only thing is that you just get a dvd with pics, no book, so that ends up adding another cost...
I liked him though, got some great shots..
also, http://agatonstrom.com
He came a pretty close second, cheaper, give you proofs, book, etc.. not as established as the other one, but he was very cool, and had some great work when we met him..
also, look at http://www.wpja.com/wedding-photojo...new-york/citymetro-wedding-photographers.html
great resource for wedding photographers......
Thats it from me, hope it helps...

I can recommend my cousin, not just because she is family, but because I have seen her at work.

I do weddings every so often but have never booked that far in advance. More along the 3-6 month mark. I have a friend that does weddings full time. NYC based. http://jeffreymosierweddings.com/

I'm a Long Island based wedding photographer. I love my film cams, but shoot strictly digital for weddings. My website is linked below...

Hey Ken! Didn't know you hung out here.
And yes, Jeff Mosier is a really good friend of mine and an amazing wedding photographer as well.

If they want a very special look, check out Edward Keating. Former NY Times photographer, a Leica film guy on his own, was part of the team that won the Pulitzer for post-9/11 work. Got into weddings as the original photographer for the Times' featured wedding column called Vows -A friend of Robert Frank too. Anyway an amazing photographer, a great photographer. Check out the part of his site called Vows, obviously; but don't miss the section called Pulitzer: it is intensely powerful. http://www.edwardkeating.com/#/index
